The base strength of all infantry have been downgraded to represent the rigours of having crossed the Andes. However, Battalion's 7 and 8 are represented by one unit each, rather than two, so have been upgraded as well! I have also dropped one cavalry unit from each division to better represent the loss of men and horses on the crossing. I opted for this rather than downgrading the quality of each unit because the cavalry, although not numerous, performed well in this battle.

The Royalists were organised into one division. The staff officer is provided to give the player a little flexibility in organising them. All troops must be divided between Maroto and the staff officer at the start of the battle.
