Corum Lists for 'Hordes of the Things'
by Tim Drewett

I have always liked the Moorcock books. I first read them about twenty years ago. Recently I have started rereading them. We have already had a list for the Hawkmoon series, so I thought I would present for your edification a list for my favourite character Corum. This list is set it the first series the Sword Books and more specifically the Queen of Swords. Vadhagh are an Elven race and Mabden are humans. Lywm-an-Esh is realm of the Good Humans. The Denledhyssi are fearsome charioteers. They used Nhadragh ( another 'Elven' race ) to track Vadhagh and hunt them down.

Lywm-an-Esh / Vadhagh

Corum

1 x Hero General @ 4AP

Netherworld allies

2 x Hordes @ 1AP

Vadhagh Sky Ship

2 x Flyer @ 2AP

Vadhagh

2 x Blades @ 2AP

Mabden Archers

2 x Shooters @ 2AP

Mabden Spearmen

2 x Spears @ 2AP

Mabden Cavalry

1 x Knights @ 2AP

Stronghold : City with walls covered with flowers

Options : Airboat @ 3AP (City in the Pyramid), Hero @ 4AP (Jhary ah Conel), God @ 4AP (Lord Arkyn of Law), Cleric @ 3AP (Aleryon - Priest of Law), Hordes @ 1AP (Levy)

Corum should be army general however another possibility would be to upgrade one of the Mabden elements to the General to represent the King of Lywm-an-Esh. Vadhagh are classed as Blades to represent the combination of sword and laser that the citizens of the Pyramid city carried. The City has been classed as an Airboat as it must have had some defensive capabilities to beat of Xiombargs attacks. However, it is large enough to qualify as a stronghold. Jhary could alternatively be based with Corum, befitting his status as a companion to heroes. But remember he will need a winged cat portrayed on his shoulder !! Corum should have a green left hand and right eye. The Netherworld allies are those undead that had been killed by previous allies and sent to limbo. Corum could call them by using his green hand and eye, the remains of the Lost Gods. Jhary ah Conel can be depicted seperately or, for preference, as a companion to Hawkmoon. He should be depicted with Whiskers, his winged cat.

Barbarian Mabden

Lyr a-Brodes

1 x Rider General @ 2AP

Glandyth in a Chariot

1 x Hero @ 4AP

Denledhyssi in Chariots

2 x Knights @ 2AP

3 x Riders @ 2AP

Mabden Infantry

8 x Hordes @ 1AP

Stronghold: Brooding stone city

Options: Warbands @ 2AP (Army of the Bear), Beasts @ 2AP (Army of the Dog), Hero or Hero general @ 4AP (Prince Gaynor the Damned), Hordes @ 1AP (Chaos Hordes), God @ 4AP (Queen Xiombarg of Chaos), Lurker @ 1AP (Nhadragh scum)

Although as God of a different plane Xiombarg was barred from entering Arkyn's plane she did attempt to. The Cosmic Balance then intervened to destroy her. Prince Gaynor commanded the Chaos hordes sent by Xiombarg and on his banishment by Corum the hordes were banished with him. Gaynor should be represented as a plate armoured figure. His armour could be any colour. The armies of the Dog and the Bear were provided by the Dark Gods of the Mabden. The Dog were described as huge loping animals, and the Bears as walking on their hind legs and armed with clubs and shields.
