The Battle of Cotagaita
Alto Peru, October 27th, 1810
In 1810 the Buenos Aires Junta decided to send an expedition to attack the Royalists in Alto Peru. In this first significant acrtion of the campaign, the vanguard of the Revolutionary force attacked 2,000 Royalists under Frigate Captain Jose Cordoba y Roxas, and were repulsed.
