An American Beowulf
Davy Crockett in 'Hordes of the Things'
by Chow Li

I just spent a lazy Saturday afternoon watching 'Davy Crockett; King of the Wild Frontier'. The US is too young to really have "epics" like the ones from the old world. No Arthurian legends here, a few though. I believe Davy Crocket to be one of those. Though I grew up viewing him as a hero but I never thought of him in the epic light until now.

Shooter General @ 2AP (Andrew "ole Hick'ry" Jackson)
Hero @ 4AP (Davy Crockett)
Hero @ 4AP (Georgie Russell)
2 x Blades @ 2AP (Fellow woodsman and militia)
4 x Shooters @ 2AP (U.S. regulars or Texas Volunteers)
Warband @ 2AP (Indian allies)

Stronghold - Log Cabin or Alamo chapel

Alternatives: Lurker @ 1AP ("Thimbelrig" or Johnny Two Shirts), Magician @ 4AP (Davy with "Betsy"), Artillery @ 3AP (Texas or Army Artillery)

This is really two lists. Davy in the Creek wars and then at the Alamo. Georgie Russell is a hero because he saves Davy's life once or twice (making him a hero's hero) and goes for help at the Alamo. He also works independantly of Davy at the battle of Horseshoe Bend. Otherwise there is a good argument that he should be on Davy's stand.
