Army: The Green Tide, A Goblin Horde

| 1 | Behemoth General @ 4AP | Ogre with mace | 1 |
| 11 | Hordes @ 1 AP | Wave after wave of goblins and snotlings | 11 |

I like to think of this army as a lesson in how to waste PIPs. Early on I wind up throwing PIPs at the Sneakers as they maneuver for position (and usually end up out of command range of the general) and the supporting flyers. Late in the game I end up spending more PIPs bringing up reinforcements than you spend on maneuvering. Thank goodness I haven't tossed a magician into the mix.
This leads to the reason I enjoy games with this army - they are usually knuckle biters. On offense it is a race between the Sneakers heading for the enemy stronghold and keeping enough hordes on the board to stave off defeat. On defense it is a race as well. Can I get my Hordes far enough forward before the carnage begins that they will secure enough time to bring up reinforcements? These battles also usually end under the shadow of the stronghold, as well.

Army: The Gnomes of Zurich
Scale: 25mm
List:
| 1 | Blade General @ 2AP | 2 | |
| 4 | Blade @ 2AP | 8 | |
| 7 | Shooters @ 2AP | 14 |
Options: Replace one blade with one more shooter(!); replace three
shooters with a bard (cleric) and organ cannon (artillery); combine one
blade with blade general and add the bard for a hero general.

Notes:
For my part, I am submitting the first army I ever painted, over twelve
years ago. The army is composed of Ral Partha 25mm dwarves, but the
figures are dwarfed, so to speak, by the 28mm of other manufacturers.
I have now realized that with their gold inlaid mithril armor, large
noses, and well-drilled regiments, they must hail from a secret mountain
kingdom of gnomes. As such, they have found a happy home in the Hordes
of the Things universe.
The Gnomes of Zurich are an easy army to win with. The blades hold the line and support the general. The shooters perform three roles: protect the flanks, hold off mounted, and clear bad going. A reserve group of shooters can also help counter any infiltration by flyers or sneakers. Not a fast army, but solid.
