I have been toying with buying Peter Pig's Gnome army. As such I was thinking that Giant Insects would make suitable opponents, a sort of 'alls not well in the garden' theme:

1 Praying Mantis (Cleric General @ 4 pts)
2 Dragon Fly (Flyers @ 2 pts each)
2 Big Beetle (Behemoths @ 4 pts each)
4 Small Beetles (Beasts @ 2 pts each)

(I appreciate your average English Garden doesn't have many Praying Mantis' but we get them here in Hong Kong.)

1 Chief Soldier (Hero General @ 4 pts)
5 Soldier Ants (Warband @ 2 pts each)
10 Workers (Hordes @ 1 pt each)

1 Nest Leader (Aerial Hero @ 6 pts)
9 Wasp Warriors (Flyers @ 2 pts each)

1 Queen (Aerial Hero @ 6 pts each)
9 Warriors (Flyers @ 2 pts each)

Of course there are Flies as well which could have Bluebottle Hero's, Flying Behemoth Blow

Flies and lots more Flying House Fly Hordes. Spiders and slugs make good Lurkers and I thought Ladybirds for sneakers.

I have actually bought the insects little wooden ones made in Hong Kong for the Great Mantis' Army they sell for about a pound each. Joke shops in UK stock a lot of plastic bits especially flies I seem to remember from my earlier childhood.
