Introduction
In 1954 a V4 robot, hidden since 1945 in the Bavarian Alps, activated and set off on a pre-programmed flightpath towards London. Hastily scrambled fighter jets engaged it over the North Sea ...
This is a two-player scenario, with one player taking a single V4 robot, and the other taking elements of the British, Dutch and French air-forces. The whole scenario takes place in the skies above the North Sea.
Monster Forces
The Monster Player has a single V4 robot. Statistics for the robot can be found here.
Human Forces
The Human Player has seven jet fighters (described in 'Invasion of Monster Island'). Those deemed to belong to the RAF are deHavilland Vampires, hence the scenario title.
Setup
The map represents an area of the North Sea. Both players should take two cloud sections, each about 6" in diameter and alternate placing them on the board. The Monster Player then numbers one map edge 1,2,3 and the other three 4, 5 and 6 respectively. They then roll a D6 and take that edge as their base edge. The V4 is placed at either low or high altitude in the centre of that edge.
The Human Player then takes six jet fighters, and places them on the opposite edge. Each fighter can be at low or high alitude as the player wishes.
Special Rules
Clouds - No unit may fire into or through a cloud. Units may enter a cloud, but if they start their turn inside one they must roll a D6. On a roll of 4-6 they become disorientated, and lose half a turn getting their bearings.
Human HQ - The jets are being directed by an off-table radar station, which adds to the Human initiative roll. If a line can be traced from the centre of the Human base edge to the V4 without passing through a cloud then the Humans get +4 to their initiative roll.
Reinforcements - At the start of every Human player turn after the first, the player rolls a D6. If the score is equal to or greater than the number of jet fighters currently on the table, the human player gets a single fighter as a reinforcement anywhere along their own base edge. The Human player has an unlimited supply if fighters, but there can never be more than seven on the table at any one time.
The North Sea - Jet fighters that end up at ground level are counted as lost. The V4 may not descend below low altitude. Note that it is impossible for the jet fighters to daze the V4, so an uncontrolled descent is not an issue for the Monster player.
Victory
The Human player wins by destroying the V4.
The Monster player wins if the V4 destroys at least six jet fighters and then exits off the Human base edge. It may not leave the table until it has destroyed at least six fighters.
A draw is not possible.
Options
It ought to be possible to play this scenario with any 30 point flying kaiju. If a kaiju is dazed then it will crash into the sea. A kaiju that has done so will sink into deep water, and will spend its next move recovering from the daze. On the next turn it may make a single flight move and ends the turn at low atitude. It can take no further action that turn. If the kaiju has Swimming, however, it can land on the water and move as normal.
