History: Metacrinus is a plant-based alien life form that originally came to Earth as a seed pod. Discovered, in what is now known to be a dormant state, in the Arctic it was taken to Kew Gardens for study where it germinated and quickly grew, absorbing all vegetable matter in its vicinity. Rising up on three sturdy tree-trunk legs, Metacrinus has a squat body with a long stem rising out of its centre. The pods on this stem spray potent toxins at its foes, whilst the tentacles that ring the body drip venom. Initial attacks by the military showed that Metacrinus had an extraordinary vitality, with damage healing almost as fast as it could be inflicted. Only a concerted bombing attack by the RAF subdued the creature, but despite being frozen into near dormancy for its journey to Monster Island, it had regained full health upon its arrival.
