Tarzan and the Mysterious City
A Three Player Scenario for ‘Hordes of the Things’
By Thomas Boraud

Terrain

Half of the field is covered by jungle and several rivers cross the field. The Mysterious City is atop a hill. The three strongholds are on the table (I sure you will find a way to put 3 strongholds in a square table!)

Army 1 - Tarzan, Lord of the Apes

Aerial hero general (Lord Greystoke, alias Tarzan, Lord of the Apes) @ 5AP* 1
Sneaker (Jane Porter) @ 3AP 1
Dragon (Tantor, King of the elephants and his followers) @ 4AP** 1
Beasts (Lions and panthers) @ 2AP2
Blades (Old male Chimpanzees) @ 2AP2
Hordes (Monkeys) @ 1AP2
Lurker (Monkeys with coconuts) @ 1AP1
Water Lurker (Crocodiles) @ 1AP1
Stronghold: The Elephant Cemetery

Tarzan and his friend Tantor are the guardian of the Elephant Cemetery. Jane is graded as Lurker because although acts like a poor feeble women during the two third of the movies, she is finally the one who save the situation thanks to either her English education (perfidious Albion) or the crafty tricks of the jungle-women (it depends of the situation of course).

Victory condition: To chase the white guys who disrupt the harmony of African Nature.

* Tarzan is considered as an aerial hero only in the jungle areas, else the 5 points. He can cross a river without penalty if it is beside or across a jungle area.
** Tantor is considered as a dragon instead of a behemoth, because he needs to be called by the famous Tarzan's scream. The player NEEDS to scream it in order to call Tantor (together with the 6 pips). He will appear either nearby Tarzan or the Cemetery.

Army 2 - The Courageous Explorer

Shooter general (Chief explorer, either charismatic 'jeune premier' or big brute) @ 2AP1
Magician (Pr. Van Outen and his net-gun to capture rare specimen) @ 4AP1
Sneaker (Belgian traitor; traitors are very often Belgian in Tarzan's adventures) @ 3AP1
Flier (Bleriot Mk XI) @ 2AP1
Shooters (Various explorers and adventurers) @ 2AP5
Hordes (Porters and African scouts whose roll is generally to fall stupidly from cliffs) @ 1AP3
Stronghold: the base camp

Victory condition: To find the Mysterious City (Don’t ask me why, but there is always a Mysterious City to find in Tarzan's stories).

Army 3 - The Mysterious People from the Mysterious City

Blade general (Chief) @ 2AP1
Magician (The Great Shaman) @ 4AP1
Sneaker (Chief’s wife; a very pretty sneaker indeed!) @ 3AP 3
Warband (Tribal Warriors) @ 2AP 6
Lurkers (Scouts) @ 1AP 3
Stronghold: Guess what? The Mysterious City

Victory condition: To find the Elephant Cemetery. For a reason known only by the Great Shaman, it is of importance for the safety of the Mysterious City to find it.
