The Russian Civil War
Army Lists for 'Hordes of the Things'
By Richard Tyson

I was using some home-made rules amendments. These included - Armoured trains counted as Behemoths, but could only move on rails. To counter this restriction they could fire as Artillery.

Red Army (North Russia)

1 x Blade General (Red Guards same as you Jay)
1 x Behemoth (Armoured Assault Train)
1 x Lurkers (Bolshevik Guerillas)
2 x Shooters (Infantry with HMG's)
1 x Artillery (guess what - artillery)
10 x Horde (Bog standard Bolshevik Infantry)

Interventionist Army (North Russia)

1 x Behemoth General (Ironside or Maynard in Armoured Train)
1 x Flyer (Fighter plane)
4 x Spears (Regular British/US/Canadian troops - capable of closing with the bayonet)
3 x Shooters (regulars as above with HMG)
4 x Horde (Allied/White Russian troops)

White Army (South Russia)

1 x Hero General (Wrangel)
1 x Flyer (Fighter plane)
3 x Riders (White cavalry)
1 x Knight (Armoured car)
2 x Spears (White Officers Regiments)
6 x Hordes (Other white infantry)

Red Army South Russia

1 x Magician (Trotsky)
2 x Blades (Red Guards)
1 x Knights (Tachanka)
2 x Riders (Cavalry)
10 x Hordes (Red infantry)

Other options, not necessarily having anything to do with reality, but based on some perceptions at the time: Wrangel as Cleric instead of Hero, Kolchak as Paladin, Voroshilov as Hero General, Tanks as Behemoths, Spies/Assassins as Sneakers

Jay Woolrich offers this alternative list:

Red Army

Trotsky (Hero General) 1 x 4AP
Lenin (Cleric) 1 x 3AP
Raskolnikov & Kronstadt Sailors (Hero) 1 x 4AP
Red Cavalry (Riders) 1 x 2AP
Red Guards (Blades) 2 x 4AP
Regular Red Infantry (Shooters) 2 x 4AP
Irregular Red Infantry (Hordes) 2 x 2AP
Felix Dzerzhinsky - NKVD (Lurker) 1 x 1AP
Stronghold: Armoured Train.
