Recon 2003 Overall Report
By Tim
Sharrock
Congratulations to Alan, for a well deserved victory with his refurbished Narnians, and commiserations to Brian, who I beat to 2nd place with some lucky rolls at the end.
Thanks to the Wakefield & Ossett wargamers for
organising a fun event, and to the sponsor, Coritani, for providing a
very nice
stronghold as second prize:

The scoring/pairing system for this one was different again: The system decided who was attacker and who the defender, aiming for each player to be the attacker and defender twice in the four games. Two points were awarded for a win, and one for a draw (there weren't any - but one game finished on the last bound before a timeout). The tie-break was "goal difference" - the APs of elements destroyed less the APs lost. No extra tie-break allowance was given for killing generals or taking strongholds.
The final scores were (assuming I am reading the sheet correctly):

Just for comparison I have included the equivalent Berkeley scores in the final column (note of course, that the pairing might well have been different too). The final ordering is very similar, with the only differences being that I would have sneaked above Alan (which would not have been right - as he beat me in the first round) and that "the other David" would have moved ahead of Brian (and by coincidence, Brian beat him in the first round too!)
