We had a HOTT tourney last night at the club, and Xena the Buff Barbarian and the Naked Amazons entered the fray for their first ever outing. Xena was a Hero General, and brought along Amazon Priestesses (magicians), 6 Warband companies and 2 Shooter companies (with breast removals)
Battle 1 - The Knights who say Ni!
The Knights emerged from their shrubbery, as the Amazon Warband shook into line to attack, the Amazon Priestesses doing a sterling job of sending the Knights' archers reeling from strange visions. Xena and some picked archers attacked the Knights Hochmeister, the first combat of the game, 2 Hero Generals - Xena with supports. The Hochmeister landed the first blow, and the Amazons all ran....
Battle 2 - The Mythical Aztecs
The Aztec hordes were charged by the Amazons, an Aztec Winged thingy was shot down by Amazon archers, and a slogging match then ensued, The Amazons had taken out 11 AP of Aztecs when time was called - we used a "golden combat" rule - whoever killed the next element won the game. It was my opponents turn, he killed his first element of Xena's army, and Xena's feckless Amazons again ran...
Battle 3 - The Dwarven Hordes
Dwarf axemen and artillery emerged from the gates of Moria, and met Amazon warband, the Amazons were gettng the better of it thanks to the superb efforts of Xena and the Priestesses - but the slog was long and the "golden combat" loomed large. Yet again, on a 3-2 advantage, we lost. Xena was spitting blood with fury.
Battle 4 - Creepy Things
Bats, Bogeymen, Ghoulies, Ghosties, Little green men, skeleton riders and things that go bump in the night attacked. The Bats were taken out by Amazon archers and Priestesses, who also scared off one of the Bogeymen, Xena seeing off the other. The Amazon warbands made short work of the ghoulis and ghosties for a convincing Xena-esque win.
Total hoot - I can thoroughly recommend a club HOTT Tourney night, easy to get 4 games in 2 hours. It really astounded me the things people had - the inevitable Gnomes, Dwarves, Orcs, Legendary Arabs, Skeletons, Lizard men etc. Less usual was a Dinosaur army, a Rat army, a Leisure Suit Larry type army complete with giant bunny-girls
