The HOTT Tactical Manual
Aerial Heroes
Summary
Aerial troops. Cost 6AP. Move 1200p. Combat factors are +5 vs all.
If they draw in close combat with another Hero, they are both destroyed if the combat total is odd.
If they lose to a Hero, Paladin or Atillery they are destroyed, they are ensorcelled by a Magician and they flee from a Stronghold. Otherwise they recoil.
If they are doubled in combat, they are destroyed.

I use an aerial hero in my Dark Elf Army. Technically I think you need to look at a flyer or two to support it however assuming you do not have that luxury there are three basic tactics available.
- Demoralise your opponent. Oh no its an aerial hero, form a circle, run away boys, etc. Deploy aerial hero on the flank and zip off behind the battle line of your opponent. With luck they will detach a significant part of their force to prevent you using the thing. Then hit the main part of the force for all you're worth to get a victory.
NB. This is a basic flyer tactic however it has more effect because you could be threatening tactic two.
- If there is a Stronghold in play, assault it, capture it and gloat (although bear in mind you will need to double, not just defeat it. Unless you have support from ground troops). This nasty possibility gives most players nightmares. (But only works if the hero is supported by ground troops)
- Turn the behemoth. Or rather break the line. Again position on the flank and swoop down on annoying behemoth if it is on a flank turning it and then start recoiling it into the line. NB This is a theory of mine as I have never played against behemoths with an aerial hero.
On the minus side you must always bear the following in mind.
- That's 6 AP tied up in that model. You cannot afford to lose it.
- Never go head to head with other heroes or magicians.
- PIP cost can lead to it becoming isolated and cut off. Generally not a problem unless fighting airboats with flyers in support.

Team an aerial hero up with fliers and go for the enemy general. Watch out for magicians, though. An aerial hero general is very powerful if you go for the all-or-nothing tactic of killing the enemy general, but is obvously fatal if you lose him as 6AP is a high price to pay..
