Papay Development Plan Vision
In 2020 Papay will be a thriving community sustaining a high quality of life for all while safeguarding our remarkable environment and heritage. By attracting young people and families we will create a balanced community of one hundred people.
We will achieve this by basing our Plan on our Orcadian values, utilising local skills and harnessing our community spirit to:
- Diversify the economy while developing our quality agricultural and fishing industry
- Develop affordable housing
- Improve access to recreational activities on Westray and the Orkney mainland;
- Ensure we continue to have access to quality health and educational facilities;
- Improve our transport links;
- Develop a balanced and sustainable tourism economy on the island.
