1. How long will it take to build my website?

It depends on the size of your web site. Once we have received all the text and pictures from you we expect to have template websites completed within 10 days and within 30 days for bespoke sites. Although completion can depend on how busy we are at the time of ordering.
 

2. What is a domain name (web address)?

A domain name or web address as it is sometimes called, is your individual Internet identity. Your customers will need to type this address into the address bar to go to your web site. No two parties can ever hold the same web address simultaneously, so your Internet identity is totally unique.  You will get the domain name of choice included in the price of your website.

 3. What is web hosting?

All web sites are placed on the internet by computers called servers. To have your web site on the Internet you need to have your web site "hosted" on a server.

4. What are search engines and how do I submit my site?

Most Internet users use search engines to find products and services that they are looking for. The most popular search engines are Yahoo, Google, Excite, Lycos and Alta Vista. Francophilia Website Design will register your web site to the most popular search engines and to many directories that specialize in your particular website subject, i.e. travel sites if you are advertising your holiday home. This will allow your web site to be displayed in the findings when a potential customer is searching for products or businesses similar to yours.  We also add meta tags to your site to help search engine positioning.

5. What are Meta Tags?

Meta tags are written html code placed inside your web site, which are not visible to visitors.  Usually meta tags consist of a title, description of the content in your site and the as many keywords associated with your services or products as you can think of.  The meta tags are used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your site in their indexes.  All you need to do, is write a brief description of your site and the keywords and we will create the meta tags and put them on to your web site.

6. What are Keywords?

Keywords are words people use to find websites associated with what they are looking for, they are typed into the search box and will bring up many sites linked to those words, for example if you want to find a cottage in France you could use the keywords 'France+cottage+holiday home'. The better the keywords you have the more likely you are to be found on a search engines.
