Coming to a pub near you soon ...
As orienteers are fueled by good food, beer and plenty of idle chat, if any members of GO want to gather for a post race bevvy and spot of
food, James our resident gourmet chef has suggested the following venues over the next couple of weeks ...
21st February : The George Inn, Forest of Dean (somewhere!)
|
1st February 2010 : GO 2010 Club Championships. Standings after 7 events.
25th January 2010 : CompassSport Trophy ... close second place for team GO
There were several 100 point scorers which was excellent, but a scan of the results showed one in particular that in my mind stood out as the performance of the day. That belonged to Martin Lock on Green, who was an outstanding 2nd behind Mike Murray and not that far down either. What can be said, other than great run Martin. Next year you will be doing the Brown.
A few Gophers sported the new club strip complete with minor spelling error ... or is it?, but I wonder just how many of those kind folk who were quick to voice that it was "a shame that the name was spelt incorrectly" actually realize that "Guilfords" is a little know town in the Swedish province of Southern Trimtex that we are proud to be twinned with. At least folk spotted the kit, and lets hope they enjoy the rear view of the Gopher as we leave them to eat bracken in the forest ... perhaps! More kit is on its way, but these tops from our twinned town will be collectors items much like the famous Penny Black, so get in quick before stocks all go.

and what we do, so please check out those pages for a more complete picture.
In brief, Guildford Orienteers .. GO, have been in existence since the early 1960's, and are one of
the older and more established clubs in the UK. We are not a big club, but we still manage to stage
a number of first class events each season, and we have a fair number of active competitors who race
most weekends during the main Orienteering season.
You don't have to live in Guildford to be a member of GO,
and the club has members throughout the South East of the country, so don't let the name deter you from
contacting the club if you are interested in Orienteering and would like to join a club in the South East.
Enjoy the web pages, and we hope to see you in the future, either at
GO events, and / or as a fellow club
member.
