'CONWAY THE CAT IN OUTER SPACE.'

This is the story of Conway the cat,
a dreamy kind of puss
who is really quite fat.

One winters day about half past three,
Conway was sat on his owners knee.

He'd just had a snack,
fish fingers and cream,
this was the food
that made Conway dream.

With his eyes shut tight
and a smile on his face,
the dream was beginning
and Conway was in space.

Conway was flying a rocket so fast,
past planets and stars,
how long would it last?

Then in the distance
Conway could see,
a strange little object,
oh what could it be?

His rocket slowed down
as he got near,
it was a little spaceship,
Conway trembled with fear.
A spaceship from
another planet this was true,
with big flashing lights
and painted pale blue.

Then out from the spaceship
hopped a little green man,
who held in his hand an old oil can.

'Can you help me?' He said with a squeak,
'My spaceship has got a big oil leak.'

Conway then smiled
he trembled no more,
he put on his space helmet
and opened his door.

Across to the spaceship
Conway did hop,
with oil the engine
was filled to the top.

In no time at all
the engine was put right,
the spaceship was ready
for another long flight.

A button was pressed
and the engine did start,
the two new friends
were ready to part.

Then the little green man
gave Conway a stone,
this was a gift
for helping him to get home.

The stone was
the colours of the rainbow,
but when you rubbed it,
it started to glow.

The little green man
then waved goodbye,
then off in his spaceship he did fly.

Now Conway wanted to go home too,
So he started his rocket and off he flew.

Past strange planets
some stars and a moon,
Conway was thinking
he would be home soon.

Faster and faster
he whizzed past the sun,
Conway gave a little chuckle,
this was good fun.

Then a very loud bang
and lots of black smoke,
'Oh dear.' Said Conway.
'My engine has broke.'

Conway picked up his phone
and for help he cried,
but no-one could hear him,
he tried and he tried.
Conway was sad he felt all alone,
but then came a sound,
was it a voice on the phone?

The voice got louder,
oh who could it be?
'Wake up Conway,
your asleep on my knee.'

It was only his owner,
not a voice on the phone,
he wasn't in space
he was safely at home.
