THE ELMS HOTEL -- The picture above shows the 'new' Elms now renamed 'The Brasshouse' by the brewery. The picture to the left shows the horse trough and fountain which used to stand at the junction of High St., Walsall Wood Rd., Leighswood Rd. and Anchor Rd.. Today this is the site of the major traffic roundabout that will always be known to locals as 'Elms Island'

ELMS ISLAND - The major traffic roundabout in the centre of Aldridge and the fountain which used to stand at this junction, Both views looking down Anchor Road.

ANCHOR ROAD - This lovely garden and shelter were lost to make way for the new shopping precinct.

Is the modern yellow pointed structure supposed to be a reminder of what used to be here ?

THE AVION CINEMA - Anchor Road . Opened by George Formby and one of the few old buildings that still remains intact , although its use has changed, it is now a Bingo Hall.

ALDRIDGE STATION - At the end of Anchor Road with the junction of Walsall Road and Station Road stood Aldridge Station , long since gone, and the site now utilised for the location of the new Health Centre. Trains ran to Walsall and to Birmingham via Sutton. With traffic congestion as it is today on the roads it would seem to make sense for passenger services to be reintroduced from Aldridge.

NORTHGATE - A Harper Brothers stands at the Bus stop on Northgate adjacent to the site where

The Post Office, Telephone Exchange and more recently HomeBell House have been developed.
