Valves line-ups for radios in use in 1944
The following information gives valve line-ups for radios
in use during WWII. Sets were mainly superhets and mostly mains
powered, either AC or Universal AC/DC.
Each section gives the type of set, whether AC mains (AC),
Universal (U) or Battery (B).
The position or inclusion of the " / " sign in the
type codes of valves is not always consistent in contemporary
information and valves may be marked or referred to, for example
as "AC/HL" or "ACHL". Both mean the same thing.
There are lots of equivalent valves and sets may be found
with different types that work just as well.
Check equivalents to commonly
used valves.
