| 24.7336 | Princess | Alexandra of Anhalt | 1868 | 1958 | Prince | Sizzo of Schwarzburg | 1860 | 1926 |
Sizzo was a son of Prince Friedrich Günther of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (1793-1867) by his second, morganatic marriage on 7 Aug 1855 to Helene Gräfin von Reina (herself daughter of a morganatic marriage, between Georg of Anhalt-Dessau and Therese Emma von Erdmannsdorf, but adopted by her uncle Prince Wilhelm of Anhalt on 1 Aug 1855, and given the title of Princess of Anhalt by the reigning Duke of Anhalt). Helene Gräfin von Reina gave birth to Sizzo and his twin sister Helene on June 2, 1860 and died 4 days later. Sizzo and his sister Helene were created prince/ss of Leutenberg in Rudolstadt on 21 June 1860. By a law, promulgated in 1896, Sizzo was recognized as the heir-presumptive to the principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen and, by treaty with Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, to that principality also. In 1925 he succeeded his cousin Gunther Victor as Prince of Schwarzburg. Günther Victor had succeeded his cousin George Albert as Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt in 1890 and another distant cousin Prince Karl Günther of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1830-1909) (son of Prince Günther II Friedrich of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1801-1889) and his first wife Princess Marie of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt) (1809-1833), thus uniting the two lines and assuming the title Prince of Schwarzburg. |

| 24.8213 | Grand Duke | Adolf Friedrich VI of Mecklenburg-Strelitz | 1882 | 1918 | Adolf Friedrich was the last Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz having committed suicide. (The following reproduced from a posting by Steven Lavallee 24/8/2005 on The German-Austrian Royals Message Board) Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich had a mistress whom he wanted to marry. Her name was Mafalda Salvatini. They had two sons. For political reasons, the Grand Duke was to become betrothed to a princess (identity unknown). Before he could do so, he felt compelled to write a letter to his mistress asking her to release him from his vow to marry her. By the time her permission arrived, he had gone off on a solitary walk with his dog and shot himself. The couple's sons ended up in the United States under the surname Gerad. | |||||
