Trading from the Start : Stage 2
STEP 1   STEP 2   STEP 3   STEP 4   STEP 5   STEP 6

Time to move on. Now you should have tech level 13 hull and tech level 13 engine, and it's time to look for more trade routes!

Pick a random sector and move to it.

Do a full scan.

We have found 2 Goods ports and 2 Ore ports. Now, add them to your trade routes! (3188 to 2617 and 6031 to 3433).

Slightly different form your first trade route because you now have engines which allow you to use real space instead of warping. Now you have a start you can go to your new trade route sector and trade (no more than 10-15 trades at each trade route). While you're there, do a full scan again and make a note of goods/ore ports to make further trade routes with - you can add up to 40 trade routes in the game, the more you have the better.

Remember to return back to sol all the time to upgrade your hull when you have enough credits for each upgrade.

Once you have your hull up a few more techs, purchase a fuel scoop and up your power tech to 13-15. From trade control, set your global trade settings to trade.

Once this is done you will get more profits from each trade you do, as you sell the energy you pick up travelling on each route.

In a new game this is all you need do for at least the first 2-3 days moves, to trade and build up your hull - the bigger your hull the more credits and score you get. Many make the mistake of getting other techs which are not needed to start with.

My usual first few days get my techs to 25 Hull 13 Engines 13 Power and for extra security, a Cloak - as much as I can afford to spare credits on. Also, Escape pod, Emergency Warp Device, Fuel Scoop and Last ship seen device.
