Where Is Everyone?

Revised:

HOSPICE OF ST FRANCIS sends greetings for Christmas and the New Year and very sincere thanks for the wonderful amount now received from the autumn collection in the Home Boxes. These are opened twice a year and are a valued source of income. The amount raised of just over £2,443 is the highest figure from Abbots Langley, Bedmond and Hunton Bridge since 1990. THANK YOU.

Two new beds were opened in 2007 making a total of twelve and it is hoped another two will be opened in 2008. This will depend on continued fund raising. At any one time the hospice cares for about 200 people through the In-Patient Unit, the Day Hospice, specialist nurses visiting people in their homes, the Family Support Team and the education programme. Referrals continue to come from our area. Apart from the medics, therapists, social workers and the chaplain, there are 580 volunteers who support the services. Of the three million pounds needed in 2008, only 23% of the running costs come from the government.
