We have continued to receive generous donations towards the emergency repairs to the drains, and they now total around £630 – a wonderful response. The donors all wish to remain anonymous and we are extremely grateful for their support.

We have also held the first of our series of fundraising social events, a Beetle Drive with delicious “Bangers’n’Mash”, provided by Rosemary Rhodes, Lyn Bratt and their team. The evening included a sing-song and impromptu dance act from the youngest guest! The event raised more than £322 and Rosemary nominated the Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice to receive the 10% tithe which we always pay over to a nominated charity.

The next event is on Saturday March 15th, starting at 7.15. This will be a showing of two recent historical films of Abbots Langley. The first features the fire at St Lawrence Church in 1967 and the subsequent restoration, and the second is of the miracle plays enacted around the village in July 1994 under the title of “The Miracle Man”. The evening will include a finger buffet, and tickets are priced at £6.50 and are available from Tony Manning (263 982).

Then on Saturday 5th April we will enjoy an evening with our friends from the Old Time Dance Club who meet on Wednesday evenings in our hall. The evening will include a fish and chip supper, and there will be modern waltzes, quicksteps and foxtrots as well as some traditional Old Time dancing. Tickets will be from Tony Manning, at £10 per head.

Everyone is invited to enjoy these evenings!
