Dear Friends,

At the Circuit Meeting on 12th May we looked at what the Policy Group had recommended to be considered. From small group discussions various suggestions were noted and the Circuit Leadership Team has worked with these. We have come to the following:

  • We want to call the whole Circuit to prayer. Prayer must undergird all that we do, because we need to have a vision of God’s purposes for us. I will be working on how we arrange this over the summer, so that we start the new Methodist year in prayer.
  • On the Plan, there will be two Local Arrangements per church per quarter. It is suggested that each church uses one of these as an opportunity to explore the gifts of the congregation in the leading of worship. Some churches will have recognised Worship Leaders already, others may wish to look at this. It is suggested that the churches use the other LA to look at the possibility of sharing worship with other Methodist churches or neighbours of other denominations.
  • People from Bushey and Oxhey church have offered to come to our churches to explain how a stewardship scheme works. This is a way of committing time and resources to specific goals during the year, and has proved to be very helpful. You are asked to consider this, and contact Pam Conquest, Acting senior steward via m.conquest@ntlworld.com if you wish to arrange a visit.
  • We urge the churches to form, re-form, or encourage house groups. Fellowship, Bible study and prayer built up the Methodist Church in the past, and grows churches today.
  • We would like to see our young people arranging Youth Worship on a Circuit basis.
  • We will explore the possibility of the Circuit’s negotiating of contracts for gas and electricity for all the churches, and possibly the maintenance of fire equipment and servicing of boilers as well. The hope is that we might get better deals if we work together. Of course, this is not intended to be mandatory, and churches would have to arrange the visits from the contractors if we were to go ahead with such an idea.

As a Leadership Team we wish to encourage growth in our Circuit, and welcome the co-operation of every member and adherent.

God bless!

Margaret

Just close your eyes and open your heart
And feel your worries and cares depart,
Just yield yourself to the Father above
And let him hold you secure in His love.

For life on earth grows more involved
With endless problems that can’t be solved
But God only asks us to do our best,
Then He will “take over” and finish the rest.
