'The sun shining, hundreds of people smiling and chatting away to each other, a veritable art gallery of pictures in the form of complete jigsaw puzzles, money changing hands, VIPs and punters enjoying each others' company - and, at the end of the day, £1,694 to add to the Community Centre refurbishment fund. Thank you.
'More than 50 people throughout Abbots Langley have worked away since September, collecting and completing puzzles, layering them back into their boxes, storing them, getting together to reassemble them, measuring and cutting up cardboard sheets, collecting, delivering and arranging tables, baking cakes, setting up and selling refreshments etc etc. A terrific community effort.
'Thank you very much, all of you. …. And they said I was mad!'
