From Cremyll Ferry jetty head for main gates of Mount Edgcumbe Park slightly to the left. Through gates and immediately turn left. Pass under arch into gardens following path straight on to the Orangery Restaurant. Keep on gravel path around this building then between hedges to emerge with the sea on your left. Continue past ruin of the old blockhouse (good views across Plymouth Sound and Drakes Island) then straight on path leaving gardens via gate onto concrete track. At junction straight on up slight slope [signpost Amphitheatre], keeping on track downhill to reach Barn Pool on right. Straight on across grass to Miltons Temple. Follow path to left of Temple, with sea to left, uphill and through gate. Turn right uphill to ruin (The Folly).

Q1. How many steps to the top of The Folly?

Drop back downhill and turn right on gravel track keeping on main track past house.  Into wood, slightly uphill,  past marker post then turn right up slope and long flight of steps. Cross track, and up more steps to go through gate. Keep on track past stone ruin with bench and follow green arrows, down steps and along path with stone wall on right.  At track junction [green arrow pointing right] turn left down slope to join main track. Turn right, continuing on track through woods ignoring side tracks. Continue past stone shelter and at fork turn left downhill with marker post on left. At next marker post continue straight on downhill to iron gate then through wooden gate. Keep on well defined track downhill towards villages (Kingsand and Cawsand), passing gate on left to kissing gate onto lane. Turn right.

Q2. On Fingerpost, how far to Kingsand?

Continue through Maze gate on left (SP Coastpath) following main path ignoring side tracks to reach Kingsand. Through gate ahead onto road (Rising Sun PH ahead). Turn sharp left (SP Coastpath) downhill between houses (Heavitree Road - Unsuitable for Motors) past junction on right, straight on to T junction at bottom of hill. Turn right, past Gents Toilets on left. As buildings end on left note stone plaque on wall.

Q3. Who does this plaque commemorate?

Along road to junction. Turn left into Garrett Street (a few metres on left note county boundary marker on wall) continuing to end into square by the Cross Keys Inn.

Q4. What is the telephone number of the Cross Keys Inn?

Retrace your route back to where the Coastpath entered the village (by the Rising Sun PH). Past gate on right and follow Devonport Hill as it climbs steeply then becomes a footpath continuing to junction of paths. Turn right ( Grenville Battery) past Battery on left keeping on main track, past marker post, then stone wall/hedge to join tarmac road. Turn right, 30m turn left onto footpath across field, through kissing gate and turn right on lane.  Turn left [Fort Picklecombe] then after 100m turn left through kissing gate [Maker Church] across field and through gate then through another gate to cross track.  Keep left of Friary Manor on path, through gate then through gap in wall over stile and turn right alongside hedge/wall.  Over stile and turn right to church.  At church turn left, across drive.

Q5.  On signpost, distance to Empacombe?

Continue in direction of sign across grass. Through gate and cross main road with care to footpath. Down steps onto path through woods to join main path. Cross this path and continue downhill, past old quarry on left, to marker post. Follow arrows downhill then turn left through kissing gate into field. Keep on path downhill and through kissing gate. Cross road to footpath, over stile, following path with estuary on left. Around bottom of field, through kissing gate continuing on path at bottom of next field. When path leaves field take path to the left (do NOT follow path on field towards ruin). Follow path between hedges, estuary still on left, to stile at Empacombe Harbour. Over stile on grass around to left in front of pink houses.

Q6. What is the name of the second pink cottage?

At end of pink houses turn right through gap in wall and straight on through gates up tarmac drive for 30m. At bend turn off tarmac drive onto track on left. Keep on track with wall then fence and estuary on left to metal gate. Continue on path to kissing gate, continuing with fence and old concrete building on right, through another kissing gate to stile over a 3 bar fence. Continue to T-junction. Turn left on larger track downhill then fork right past Toilets to road. Turn left to finish.
