Route Directions

From Terminal car park turn right along road.  Turn right Footpath R1 Kite Hill, by telephone box, and at end of path turn left, straight ahead through woods with raised pipe on right up to road.  Cross and turn right, downhill over Wootton Bridge.  Turn left onto road immediately after bridge, 200m continue straight ahead towards Woodland Burial Ground.  After another 100m bear left, just by entrance to Burial Ground, past Fern Hill Farm on right and through metal gate.  Continue along gravel track through woods to railway crossing.

Cross railway and follow Bridleway N1 through metal gate then ignoring stile and footpath on right, continuing on track, signpost N13, to junction.  Turn left signpost N15 and after farmhouse follow track parallel with telephone line, through two gates to house [Greenhills] and ahead to road.  Cross and turn left following road past Isle of Wight Steam Railway Centre continuing under bridge to White Hart PH.

Q2.  Whose coat of arms included a White Hart?

Along road through Havenstreet village and at junction with Firestone Copse Road follow Footpath R5 over stile and uphill to War Memorial.

Q3.  Who dedicated the shrine?

Cross stile and down field over stile, through farmyard and 3 gates to road.  Straight on road and at right hand bend follow Footpath R4 [Quarr Abbey], cross stile down field over another stile through woods past lake on right.  Cross stile and with hedge on left continue to corner of field.  Over stile and road, through metal 5 bar gate and at end of track by remains of Abbey turn left.  Follow Footpath R3, over drive, past Quarr Abbey and through metal gate.

Q4.  Name of the first house on left?

Follow track to Fishbourne Inn, turn left on road back to Terminal.
