Route Directions
From Ferry Terminal go ahead to roundabout, turn right over bridge and along road. At left bend turn right on Footpath F5 [Fort Victoria] continuing along seawall to end. Turn left up wooden steps onto path to road [West Hill Lane]. Turn right for a short distance then bear left on Coastal Path on track following footpath uphill through woods. Exit Country Park and follow path between fences to Monks Lane. Turn left on lane then turning right to Holiday Camp.

At chalets nos 35-44 on left, turn left onto Coastal Path and follow narrow path between hedges. At junction keep left along farm track past farm on right to main road. Turn right, after 450m turn right into Colwell Chine Road down to slipway. Turn left along seawall, past Totland Pier and onto the Old Lifeboat House.
Q2. What are the dates on the Old Lifeboat House?
Turn left up the wooden stairway to road. Turn right past The Hermitage on right then turn right at footpath to Alum Bay. Keep on footpath between fences then through barrier onto Headon Warren. Through woods to open ground then straight ahead uphill past Information Board. Keep to main path to burial mound at top. Turn right on gravel path to Coastal Path signpost. Turn left downhill, by corner of fence past Information Board and turn left downhill with putting green on right. At road turn left, at main road turn right to Needles Park [Alum Bay]. Follow road through car parks uphill past Needles Old Battery sign towards the Down. Continue uphill on road then path down to Old Battery archway.

[An entrance fee is payable to enter the Old Battery for non NT members]. 10m before entrance turn left up steps to follow fence on right to emerge at the New Battery [Rocket Site]. [Follow signs to right for viewing area over The Needles]. Turn left onto road, by bus stop, and at left hand bend turn right over stile. Bear right uphill towards Coastguard Cottages and follow Coastal Path over the Down for 2500m to Tennyson Monument.

Keep in same direction along the Down towards Freshwater Bay. Through gateway and bear right downhill on path to track, turn left to main road. Turn right and after 40m turn left into Coastguard Lane [Footpath F36 The Freshwater Way] leading to Footpath sign F36 [Blackridge]. Through kissing gates, down steps and on boardwalk over marshes. At fork keep left to road. Turn left, at X-roads turn right into Easton Lane. Just before bend turn right over stile [Footpath F37 Freshwater Way]. Keep to left side of field, through gates and alongside wire fence across garden. Over stile and footbridge, past row of cottages and through kissing gate to road, turn right. At crossroads by Co-Op turn right, Afton Road, and after 200m turn left on path [Footpath F61 Causeway Bridge] to road.

Across road keeping on path [Footpath F61 Yarmouth] for 2500m, with River Yar on left, then bear left [Footpath Y1 Yarmouth] alongside river onto tarmac path. Bear right through car park and across roundabout back to Ferry Terminal.
