The arms trade is out of control and is fuelling conflict, poverty and human rights abuses worldwide. Every government is responsible. Oxfam, Amnesty and the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) are campaigning for a global Arms Trade Treaty to bring the trade in weapons under control.

Ban Cluster Bombs Now!

2008 will see the conclusion of a treaty prohibiting the use, production and transfer of cluster munitions. The UK is supporting the treaty, but is attempting to negotiate loopholes for certain cluster weapons. Such loopholes risk undermining the treaty and exempting weapons that will still harm civilians.

Send an appeal now to call for a ban on cluster bombs

Million Faces Petition

The Control Arms Campaign has successfully collected one million faces as a powerful, global message of support for an international Arms Trade Treaty.

The Million Faces petition was delivered on the opening day of the UN Small Arms Review Conference in New York (26 June 2006). Julius Arile, a survivor of armed violence from Kenya, and the millionth person to sign the petition, made the presentation to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

You can still add a photograph of your face to the Millions Faces petition at www.controlarms.org

Arms Trade Treaty

in 2007, after three years of campaigning around the world, the Control Arms campaign achieved a massive victory when 139 governments voted in favour of a UN resolution to start work towards an Arms Trade Treaty (only the USA voted against). A Group of Governmental Experts will now be set up to examine the basis of the Treaty. Congratulations to all Control Arms supporters on producing such a brilliant result!
