YEAR 2000 PROJECT MANAGER
Responsible for developing a process for managing Y2K risk, and ensuring the implementation of that process worldwide.
Developed a series of processes, ( contingency planning, supplier risk, and customer response) which mitigated the Y2K risk and were implemented in the UK and worldwide through a network of regional co-ordinators.
Measured progress internally through a variety of techniques ( questionnaires, health-checks, risk assessments) and benchmarked externally with other UK companies.
Designed a communication package for Customers and Employers worldwide
1997 to 1998
IM PROJECT MANAGER
Responsible for advising on the IM implications of various proposed strategies
Carried out and produced a detailed analysis on a US project which resulted in a saving for BOC in the region of £2 million.
Analysed the IM implications of centralising the high value gases business in BOC. Concluded that IM resources realistically should be concentrated on the Y2K project first

BOP PROGRAMME MANAGER
Responsible for setting up a Best Operating Practices (BOP) programme in the operations function. Also for promoting a new global way of working e.g. sharing technical knowledge and experience
Established a formal budgetting and reporting process for the programme
Facilitated "Focus Groups" to develop a strategy for establishing best and future practices in the Operations function
Worked actively with IM to promote technology that supported virtual teamworking
Managed my own energy efficiency project which was adopted by Thailand, Korea, and Malaysia amongst others.

MBA STUDENT
Spent a year at the Theseus Institute in the South of France qualifying for an MBA. Chose Theseus because of it's aim to create hybrid managers who could understand IM, business and the interrelationship between the two.
1987 to 1993
EARLY CAREER
Joined BOC in 1987 as a Chemical Engineer and worked on a variety of process development projects where computers were used to simulate proposed technical improvements. During this period worked in the US. In 1990 promoted to Process Development Engineer responsible for the experimental design and data analysis of a new technology.
In 1991 moved to a Best Practices project about upgrading systems to enable joint working between the engineering design offices in the UK and US. As user representative on the new design software team spent 50% of time working in the US.
In 1993 decided to study for an MBA and chose the Theseus Institute.
