Iron Shadows

Korsauria

Korsauria is a neighbour of  the Golden Circle shadow of Tersauria.  Geographically and in
the fact of their both having dinosaurs they are very similar.  Magic is only slightly stronger here
but the difference lies in that the sorcerors here are much more adept and knowledgeable than
the priest kings of Tersauria.   Although the Men of Science have sent expeditions to Korsauria
they have been unable to gain much influence.  The Priest Kings have also sent missionaries and
have recruited some for the worship of Sauros but are unable to make much progress against
the myriad numbers of  local cults.  Like Tersauria, Korsauria is a place of  mighty jungles,
dangerous (mostly due to the locals) mountain ranges.   From Korsauria, Amber recruits,
sorcerors, warrior-mages, and a variety of dinosaur riding warriors,  in times of war.
Most cities are small and the most powerful indinviduals are either sorcerors, the powerful
shamans of barbarian tribes,  or the occasional intelligent super carnosaur.

The Fifty Kingdoms

A loose confederation of sovereign cities, once 48, gradually eroded by the conquest and
destruction of members to the current 23.  Each kingdom bears a resemblance to some aspect
of Amber, each has a power or trait manifested,   by  heredity in the royal family, by an artefact,
or intrinsic in the castle or palace.  The kingdoms are not politically important but very high
quality individuals can be recruited from here.   The time rate, technology and magic are all very
similiar to that of Amber.

Sekelwando

Once the land of dragons, giants, hideous evil trolls and other fantastic creaturersOver hundreds
of years  the efforts of numerous heroes, and the presence of the Ever Victorious Sword have
exterminated all but an endangered remnant of these species.  This lack of quests has meant that
heroes from Sekelwando are now appearing all over shadow seeking new adventures.   In times
of threats from chaos the cry travels over Sekelwando and many knights, wizards and other heroes
will ride from their lands.  These armies appear when needed without payment or treaty obligations
largely due to the Church of Unicorn.  The Church is popular here and has longed persuaded
the people that Courts of Chaos are nothing less than the demons of hell themselves.

The Realms of the Silver Tree

The fair land of Eden was completely destroyed and utterly devastated by Weirmonken attacks.
The soil was turned to rock and sand, the spirits of the people crushed and broken.  The Silver
Tree, a remote and strangely inaccessible construct, was created to renew the land,  which is
still mostly uninhabited, and bring sanity and hope to the people.  Legend tells that its fruits confer
extrodinary abilities.  Technologically primitve, magic is common.    The Silver Tree is guarded
by the Silent Order, who are sworn not to speak until Eden blooms again.   Fruit from the Silver
Tree has recently been stolen and assassins from the Silent Order are moving across shadow.
The Silver Tree is said to have been created by Dworkin and its fruits have the power to give
mortals immortality and regenerate anyone no matter how close to death they are or how many
limbs they have missing.    The Tree is hidden in the most mountainous region and is depicted
below.

De Vurlde

De Vurlde holds two distinctions,  the first that it achieved the highest level of technology of any shadow
near to Amber,  and the second, that its was the first to destroy itself.  Once a member of the Golden
Circle this nuclear wasteland,  supports only a few survivors scratching a pitiful living from the scarred
and barren land.

Ghenesh

This former Golden Circle kingdom was rendered desolate by the moonriders.  The land is still
recovering and much of its population are emigrants from other shadows.

Fo-edge

Four great monastic orders stive against each other to achieve seemingly arbitrary objectives, vying for
domination of this shadow,  manipulating everything else in the intrigues of the mysterious Great Game.
Physical conflict rarely occur unless by proxy.  Renaissance technology with unreliable semi-magical
gunpowder, a product of limited alchemy.  The martial artists trained here are highly rated even in Amber.
The order have access to shadow magic which is ineffective elsewhere.

Mhoj

The civilised peaceful kingdoms of the Va'na have traded with Amber as far back as history records.
A Golden Circle treaty was always open to them but they have always avoided anything that would draw
them into conflict.   Around 500 years ago a number of primitive tribes of a remote mountain region were
united under a single leader.  His name Hasser is carried by the descendants of these tribes who call
themselves the Hassells.   The Hassells are tougher,  meaner, and breed faster than the Va'na.  The
Hassells are following their perceived manifest destiny to exterminate the Va'na and take all their cities.
Amber's policy of avoiding proping up weak sides has come under internal criticism from those in Amber
who point to the great artistic, literary, and poetic traditions which will be lost.

Albion

This small continent lying off the coast of the major landmass is also known as the Isle of the Mighty.
In Albion it is a time of war.  The Once and Future King is dead.  None know who shall draw the
sword from the stone.

Mundus

Mundus was devastated by Bleys on his way to Arden,  then by the Chaos Invasion
forces of the Black Road,  followed counter attack by Eric's forces, and then by
a super plague left by fleeing Chaosions.  In the few remaining scattered Mundusite
settlements they greet each other with "May no stranger arrive"
Zubee has announced that she is in charge of Mundus trade and has declared war
on the UFO's attacking Mundial

Morawia

The ageing empires of  Morawia are the setting for dynamic developments in the field of  steam
technology.  Everywhere steam is used from steam cars to steam powered mechanical computers.
There is much of the decadence and calm before the storm of fin de siecle Europe (circa early 1900s)
Compressed gas rifles,  and rapid fire steam cannons are the weapons.    Electricity has never
functioned well despite much research and Morawia is very poor in petroleum deposits.

Torchev Erta

The action of the creation of the pattern created here the mortal people and the apparently immortal
'Gods'.   The gods varied from low in fertility to complete and neuters and thus after millenia of conflict
are much reduced in numbers.  With their powerful, shadow local,  psychic powers the gods ruled
unchallenged except for limited clashes with the House of Amber.  Declining numbers and the long
avoided onset of ageing has allowed major changes to take place.  Erta is rich in petroleum deposits
and petrol bombs using clay flask have long been a traditional weapon.  One of the major sources
of change has always been visitors and engineers from De Vurlde.  About 300 years ago flamethrowers
were introduced.  About 100 years ago the engineers developed internal combustion engines that
worked here (shortly after this De Vurlde blew up and De Vurlde exile community has been important
politically, economically and militarily since).  About 50 years ago chemists developed a locally functional
gunpowder and primer.   Recently a new advanced primer has been developed and used in modern
weaponry,  almost everyone has nothing better than a primitive black powder musket.
Torchev Erta has a few advanced cities but most of the planet is still ruled by despotic gods controlling
vast numbers of peasants.
