Even the young Amberites are useful pieces in the politics of the Strong
Shadows. Personal
appearances from a Prince or Princess at a Coronation, Presidential
Inauguration or Royal
Wedding helps bind the Strong Shadows to Amber. And Amber needs the
Strong Shadows
because there will be new threats from distant shadows and the Forces
of Chaos will be back.
Diplomacy across shadow will hopefully be important in the game as
the strength of shadow
is an emphasis of this game.
I'd like to see a game with some original, even unique travel methods,
in the game already there
are wizards riding giant dragonflies, viziers on flying carpets,
the Priest Kings riding T. rex s,
the Men of Science flying flimsy biplanes with shadow proof engines,
explorers from Oerth
cruising in huge airships. Some things are out including no skateboards,
no pogo sticks, no motorised
lawnmowers.
So what if someone has higher warfare if your horse is faster they just
won't catch
you. I just want some big chase scenes with a variety of
participants (not that I can see how chases
really work in an email campaign but I like the idea anyway)
Its a style thing I would like, but not
worry about. The main thing first and last is enjoyment.
Lots of stuff needs to be written for a game but little ever survives
contact with the players. I could
prewrite vast amounts but you can never really tell what players will
be interested or their
perspectives will fail to mesh with your own. So everything that
needs expanding upon hopefully
will be of interest.
The back history is altered in places eliminating some minor characters
and changing the fates of others.
The Corwin series is followed fairly closely but certain things such
as the origin of Corwin's army
and his weapons are concealments of the truth. The Merlin series
is followed roughly but most
of it happens far from the public eye and players will not know how
true much of it is. Merlin
does become King of Chaos but has since lost it. The game can't
follow the books very closely
because they contain a lot of contradictions. There are no spikards
floating around and no-one,
to the player characters knowledge, has heard the pattern or the logrus
speak.
