THE EBOR MEETING 2001 -

Analysis & Selections by  THE ROOK - Whether it be "the race of the day" or a small prize round the gaffs, we will attempt to use our knowledge of the formbook to highlight the fancied horses participating each day and their characteristics and requirements. Hopefully this 'second opinion' provides you with a winner or two each day, or even reinforces your own view on a particular  may even convince you to back some of those horses which we feel are the "ones to fear", or have decent eachway claims. whichever is the case, we hope the information is of use to you.

SELECTIONS - For each race, I have given you who, in my view, are the likeliest winners, as well as horses who could run well at eachway odds. Any horses from our 'Horses To Follow' list are shown at the foot of each race's analysis.

THE EBOR MEETING - DAY THREE
Thursday 23rd August
2:00 E B F Galtres Stakes (Fillies & Mares) (Listed Race) £40000 added, 3yo plus fillies, 1m 3f 195yds, penalty £30485, 12 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Isadora, a promising second to Serge Lifar at Windsor on her reappearance. Love Everlasting, who won at Newbury, beating Darandala, decisively; Goncharova who left a poor effort behind her in the spring, when winning at Haydock, recent winners Ranin, Panna, and Stay Behind, and Marrakech, who defied topweight when beating Mana d'Argent at Ascot look the main protagonists in race one. Isadora will have been laid out for this and so its conceivable that this beautifully bred filly could lift the prize. I'll take a chance with Goncharova, who won in the manner of a useful sort last time, and being by an Irish Oaks winners should appreciate the step up to 12 furlongs here
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Goncharova (USA)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Marrakech,

2:35 Peugeot Lowther Stakes (Fillies) (Group 2) £85000 added, 2yo only fillies, 6f, penalty £49300, 8 runners.
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Silent Honor, Leggy Lou, Queen's Logic, Carinae (USA), Good Girl, Massarra, Sophisticat (USA), and Xtrasensory are eight useful fillies, and the outcome of this race should be informative. I wouldn't discount any of these however Leggy Lou, who was very impressive winning the Queen Margaret Stake on King George day is just prefer receiving weight from Silent Honor. Good Girl, an impressive winner of Newbury's 'Super Sprint' may be good enough to sneak into the places
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Leggy Lou,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Good Girl,

3:10 Bradford & Bingley Rated Stakes Showcase Handicap £50000 added, 3yo plus, 7f 202yds, penalty £35003, 17 runners.
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Father Thames who was a creditable second to Shibboleth at Newmarket on his reappearance could well take this despite his lack of experience, this will be his fourth start...Tough Speed, Kelburne, Big Future , Smirk, and Soft Breeze look like his main threats
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Father Thames (e/w)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] --> Eachway because i'm concerned about his lack of experience
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Kelburne,

3:45 Victor Chandler Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1) £185000 added, 2yo plus, 5f, penalty £107300, 11 runners.
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] --> Kier Park
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> I am not going to oppose Mozart, who has shown so much early pace in his last three starts, last time out when taking apart the opposition in the July Cup at Newmarket. I am encouraged by the favourable home reports for Pipalong who will no doubt, be priming herself for Haydock's big sprint over a far more suitable trip of 6furlongs. She should go well, as should last year's winner Nuclear Debate, and it wouldnt surprise me if these two, plus Kier Park fight out the places.
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Mozart,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Kier Park

4:15 Melrose Rated Stakes (Handicap) £35000 added, 3yo only, 1m 5f 194yds, penalty £23949.36, 16 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> Artillery who disapointed in the Queens Vase at Royal Ascot, had previously won nicely at Leicester over 1m4f. Several good winners have come out of that race; [Steinitz, and Elsaamri to name two], and it could pay to give him the benefit of the doubt
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Artillery
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Big Moment

4:45 McArthurglen Designer Outlet City of York Stakes (Listed Race) £30000 added, 3yo plus, 6f 214yds, penalty £23302.50, 8 runners.
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> The sixth could be a messy affair. Punters will latch onto Orientor after his easy win at ascot last time out. He might want a strong pace though to be as effective, and as that isn't guaranteed, it may pay to pass him over for Priors Lodge, (e/w) who was given plenty of time to recover from a back problem before winning a similar affair at Goodwood last time out. He quickened nicely off of a slow pace that day and could well try that tactic again here... if he does, he could again take some pegging back. Lagudin, who finished third has franked the form here this week and I'll be expecting a bold bid here
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Priors Lodge, (e/w)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[ALTERNATIVE] --> Orientor

5:15 Hamlet Miniatures (Nursery Handicap) £15000 added, 2yo only, 6f 214yds, penalty £11635, 17 runners.
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->The last race of the meeting is a bit of an anticlimax. Penny Pictures, Sandy Lady, Major Laugh, Shove Ha'Penny, Thin Client, Eastborough, Forest Prize, Life Is Beautiful, Classic Brief, Turbo, Girl Of Pleasure, and Albania, all have chances of sorts. I have no strong feelings on this affair. I thought Turbo ran a good race trying to concede 6lbs to Cala Di Volpe at Newbury (Cala Di Volpe has won again since)... He should give a good account of himself her, and is just preferred to Sandy Lady, who ran well in a similar event at Goodwood last time out
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Turbo
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Shove Ha'Penny,

THE EBOR MEETING - DAY TWO
Wednesday 22nd August
2:00 Motability And RAC Rated Stakes (Class B) (Handicap) (3yo+, 0-105) Winner £20,558.09 1m21/2f (1m2f85y) 19 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->The Whistling Teal,
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> The Whistling Teal, Elsaamri, Albuhera, Houseparty, Port Moresby, Prize Winner, Ferzao, Jokesmith, Lagudin, Moon Solitaire, Vintage Premium, Gold Academy, and Saratov head the market in the opener of day two of the meeting. Several of these have solid claims on the book; Moon Solitaire has been running well all season, and his 4th behind Compton Bolter at Goodwood was another decent effort. Our "horse to follow" The Whistling Teal, Prize Winner and Lagudin, both come into the race having been unlucky in running in their latest starts and are entitled to close inspection, as do Elsaamri, Albuhera, and Houseparty, all of whom are in great heart at present ... Who do I Suggest? ... A very tough call, but I'll go with Elsaamri who travelled well at Goodwood, and looked the winner two furlongs out but flattened out under pressure in the final furlong... it may be that 1m4f at this stage is too far. Of the others The Whistling Teal, Houseparty, and Lagudin, make most appeal for the other places.... Lagudin is preferred
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Elsaamri (USA)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Lagudin

2:35 Aston Upthorpe Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) Winner £145,000.00 1m4f (1m3f195y) 9 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Mot Juste, and Karsavina, who finished second and third behind Lailani in the Irish Oaks at Curragh head the field in the second. Both of these, plus Sacred Song who cruised home at Haydock in the Lancashire Oaks, as well as Head In The Clouds, and Nafisah, who may well make the early running, and Snowflake, who ran so well behind Lailani in the Nassau Stakes look the likeliest winners. Mot Juste is my selection to confirm form with Karsavina. Snowflake and Nasifah look the best eachway alternatives. Snowflake is preferred
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Mot Juste
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Snowflake,

3:10 Tote Ebor Showcase Handicap (3yo+) Winner £120,250.00 1m6f (1m5f194y) 22 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> The big race on day two, twenty -two runners all hoping to lift the Ebor... Foreign Affairs, Solo Flight, Mutakarrim, Travelmate, Cover Up, Kuster, Brother Joe, Archduke Ferdinand, Maniatis, Shayadi, First Ballot, Mediterranean, Ravenswood, and Mana D'Argent make most appeal. The favourite is almost certainly going to be Foreign Affairs, who was the subject of one of this season's biggest punts when winning the John Smiths Magnet Cup over 10f on this track. Many pundits believe that he is a Group horse, and therefore could easily be thrown in (he probably is) ... if he stays, he has to be feared. Fellow there-year-old Mediterranean hailing from Aiden O'Brien's yard will also attract interest, especially as he still holds a Group 1 entry ... I have to say though that his form doesn't warrant it, and more importantly he doesn't have a decent draw. Others to consider are Solo Flight, who disapointed last time out at Haydock, but who has previously indicated that a race like would suit; Kuster, who showed a fine turn of foot over 1m2f at Goodwood last time, and apparently has been finely tuned up for this by Luca Cumani; First Ballot, a lovely horse in the form of his life, who will try and stretch these and ensure that stamina is at a premium, and Cover Up, who outstayed First Ballot at Royal Ascot over 2m4f. I will take a chance with Archduke Ferdinand, who came seventh in the Queen's Vase, before getting up close home to catch Cover Up in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle. The strong early pace will be ideal, and there will be few runners staying on as well as him up the final straight. If you're looking a long priced eachway shot to oppose him with, then you could do a lot worse than Ravenswood, who finsiehd2 1/2l behind Archduke Ferdinand at Newcastle ... if he gets a clear run I can see him also getting into the frame
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Archduke Ferdinand (FR),
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Ravenswood,

3:45 Scottish Equitable Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (2yo) Winner £72,500.00 9 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Waldenburg, Rock Of Gibraltar, Saddad, Prince Dayjur, Anna Walhaan, and Mister Cosmi, are the likeliest winners of the fourth race. Mister Cosmi, Prince Dayjur and Anna Walhaan all met recent at Glorious Goodwood. Mister Cosmi the winner that day meets these rivals on worse terms and may struggle to confirm placings. Waldenburg certainly impressed when beating Dubai Destination on his debut at Newbury... That form was boosted when the second won easily at Newbury on his next appearance, and Waldenburg should improved again here. Saddad 'beat trees' at Yarmouth, but is clearly well regarded, as is Rock of Gibraltar, an unlucky in running sixth at Royal Ascot, before easily beating stablemate Hawk Wing at the Curragh. Hawk Wing has since won impressively so clearly this is good form ... A hard call gain but Rock of Gibraltar will do for me
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Rock of Gibraltar,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Anna Walhaan,

4:15 Costcutter Roses Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings)
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Irony, a winner at the Royal Meeting, lost nothing in defeat when getting caught by Whitbarrow at Goodwood. He is certain to go well again however I will give Pieter Brueghel another chance to prove himself. He came 11th in that event at Goodwood, however plenty of shrewd judges (and me!!) believe he is probably capable of much better than he showed there.... forgive a horse a bad run don't they say?!! ... I will on this occasion
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Pieter Brueghel (USA)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Rum Destiny,

4:45 Moorestyle Convivial Maiden Stakes (2yo) Winner £17,813.25 6f
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->With only one of these having run, there is very little evidence to go on, and frankly this is a race to judge in the paddock ... Obviously I cant do that, and as I have to go on the pedigrees alone. Della Francesca, a half-brother to the useful sprinter Bernstein, Official Flame; a half-brother to top sprinter Stravinsky, Rajab; a half-brother to two useful sprinters, and Expected Bonus make most appeal ... I'll go with Della Francesca.
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Della Francesca (USA)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Expected Bonus (USA)

5:15 Falmouth Handicap (3yo,0-100) Winner £19,977.75 5f Minimum Weight 7-10 Penalties after August 11th, a winner 7lb 21 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Another competitive race to end day two... Trace Clip, Indian Prince, Bali Royal, Muja Farewell, My American Beauty, Sir Desmond, Jessica's Dream, Leozian, Blakeshall Boy, Vicious Dancer, Greenwood, Only One Legend, Red Ryding Hood, and Roses Of Spring, all have chances of sorts. I selected Sir Desmond last time out at Beverley when he ran a blinder from a very poor draw... He clearly is nearing his peak, and a bolds run here is almost assured. He is just preferred to the ultra consistent pair Bali Royal, and My American Beauty. Of the others Blakeshall Boy continues to frustrate, howevr he would have finished a lot closer than he managed on saturday if he hadn't have been stopped in his run, and a bold bid is around the corner if he gets a break ... for a change
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Sir Desmond,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Blakeshall Boy,

THE EBOR MEETING - DAY ONE
Tuesday 21st August
2:00 Paradime Acomb Stakes (Class A) (Listed Race) (2yo) Winner £19,227.00 7f (6f214y) 10 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Serieux, Comfy, Toreador, Lascombes, Ryders Storm, Saphir Indien, Asheer, and Great View, all appeal in the opener. Lascombes who won cleverly at Haydock; Saphir Indien, who beat Raybaan by 6lengts on his latest start at Ayr; and Serieux who did the same at Goodwood have the most obvious claims, however Asheer who won at Lingfield; Comfy, a promising 3rd behind Sohaib at Ascot; and Toreador a close 2nd behind Whistle Down at Cork shouldn't be too far away. This should be a close call, however I just prefer Saphir Indien
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Saphir Indien
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] --> Saphir Indien won very easily at Ayr and should appreciate the trip. Lascombes should have this run to suit and will be delivered late ... he poses a serious threat to the selection
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Lascombes,

2:35 Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Stakes (Class A) (Group 3) (3yo+) Winner £58,000.00 1m8f (1m7f195y) Penalties after June 1st, 2000, a winner of a Group 3 race 3lb; of a Group 2 race 5lb; of a Group 1 race 7lb (races won at 2yo not to count for penalties)
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->Qaatef,
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> The second event is for the stayers Persian Punch, Rainbow High, Romantic Affair, Royal Rebel, San Sebastian, and Jardines Lookout, have been clashing in the major staying events so far this season, and punters will initially look amongst these for clues. Persian Punch is the clear pick on recent form and the filled-to-the-brim stands could be cheering this tremendous competitor home if he is the same form that he showed when winning at Goodwood last time. His problem is almost certainly going to be the revitalised front-runner Yorkshire, who has been carrying big weights to ridiculously easy successes. Last time out he beat Zilarator by 9lengths. There is every chance that they may take each other on, which is a pity as their battle should be enthralling. Their rivals have a difficult decision as if they give these two, too much rope, they will be very hard to peg back ... I have a hunch that may happen. If it does, don't be too surprised if Yorkshire gets the group success he deserved. Those looking for an alternative eachway bet should pay close attention to course winner Jardines Lookout, who will be suited by the run of the race. The alternative is our "Horse to Follow", Qaatef who should love this trip and is still unexposed. I wouldnt be surprised if both made the frame [and naturally as Qaatef is one of our horses to follow, I'd like to see him go well] however Jardines Lookout probably is the likelier to succeed
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Yorkshire
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Jardines Lookout,

3:10 Juddmonte International Stakes (Group 1) (3yo+) Winner £261,000.00 1m2½f (1m2f85y), 9 runners
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Bach, Sakhee, Medicean, Black Minnaloushe, Distant Music, Grandera, and Time Away, are the main protagonists in the first Group 1 event of the meeting. As all of these like to come off of the pace, the tactics of the race are clear. ... Darwin should play his role as the 'sacrificial lamb', ensuring that his opponents race for glory up the final straight ... What happens next? Sakhee, 2nd in last year's Derby to Sinndar, made a satisfactory reappearance at Newbury, and should go well, though he'll need to improve considerably on that effort. Medicean is another to consider having taken the Coral Eclipse, beating Black Minnaloushe, Bach, and Grandera. Black Minnaloushe, looked a little unlucky that day however he appears to be going a little too frequently to the well for my liking. Bach is an enigma, however he has to be respected, and at least comes into the race in good heart. It wouldn't surprise me if Bach, or Black Minnaloushe prevailed, however as long as the rain stays away, Medicean proven form is the safest option
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Medicean,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Bach, if absent Grandera

3:45 Great Voltigeur Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (3yo) Winner £87,000.00 1m4f (1m3f195y). 9 runners. Penalties in 2001, a winner of a Group 2 race 3lb; of a Group 1 race 5lb
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> This should be a significant trial for the St Leger. Storming Home, Milan, Beekeeper, Theatre Script, Demophilos, Xtra, Halawan, and Hill Country, all have chances of sorts. Storming Home should go off favourite, having run creditably when finishing fourth only 3lengths behind Galileo in the King George at Ascot. Previously he had finished in front of Theatre Script and Milan when winning at Royal Ascot, and at the very least confirm those placings. Demophilos, ran a great race when beating all bar Alexius at in July... a good run here will surely advertise that horses claims. I will take a chance and go with a horse I selected at the Royal Meting... I was very impressed with Beekeeper, who belied odds of 14-1 and topweight when comfortably beating Tomasino. He has since been the subject of positive stable reports and it is clear a big run is expected... Lets hope so. Xtra, and Halawan, are unexposed, and could make their presence felt ... Xtra is just preferred
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Beekeeper,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] --> the subject of positive stable reports and it is clear a big run is expected
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Xtra,

4:15 Ladbroke Knavesmire Stakes Showcase Handicap (Class C) (3yo+, 0-95) Winner £20,218.25 1m4f (1m3f195y) 21 runners Minimum Weight 7-10 Penalties after August 11th, a winner of a Class D to G race 4lb; of a Class A to C race 7lb
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] --> Race five is horribly competitive ... Adjawar, Sporting Gesture, Octavius Caesar, Inch Perfect, Robandela, Steel Band, Ligne Gagnante, Persian Pride, Borders Belle, Golden Chance, My Very Own, Warning Reef, Bawsian, Mcgillycuddy Reeks, Ocean Tide, Henry Island, King Spinner, Tycoon's Last, and Dancing Phantom, all have claims. Adjawar is likely to be popular, being a reasonably weighted three-year-old from a top yard, however its would noting how poorly he ran here over this trip in June... he could sluice in, however i prefer to pass. Octavius Caesar beat Achilles Spirit by 6lengths at Chester, and should go well again, as should Robendela, who has run consistently at this sort of trip. Although he's poorly drawn Inch Perfect, interests me as his campaign appears to be being geared toward a race like this. He loves this course, and this long-striding gelding could well make his presence felt in the final quarter ... an eachway bet seems safest. One to note, maybe for a hurdle race is Dancing Phantom for whom Pat Eddery is an interesting booking
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Inch Perfect, (e/w)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[ALTERNATIVE] --> Octavius Caesar (USA)

4:45 Gerrard Eglinton Nursery (Class C) (2yo) Winner £12,324.00 6f, 18 runners. Weight raised 9lb Minimum Weight 7-10 Penalties after August 11th, a winner of a Class D to G race 6lb; of a Class A to C race 9lb
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Northern Tara, Lihou Island, London Follies, Aunty Mary, Falcon Hill, Zaminstar, Pachara, Villa Del Sol, Dowhatjen, Prince Domino, Fairy Monarch, Mitsuki, Prince's Passion, Prism, and Tucker Fence, appear to have chances in race six. Newmarket principals Lihou Island and Falcon Hill are respected, as is Northern Tara, however preference is for London Follies, who may be a few pounds ahead of the handicapper. He won at Chepstow last time out despite his saddle starting to slip soon after the start. His pilot, Franny Norton had to contend with that problem through the race. London Follies did well to hold on and he could be a little bit better than he showed there.
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> London Follies,
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[E/W ALTERNATIVE] --> Pachara

5:15 Links of London Handicap (Class C) (3yo+, 0-100) Winner £20,819.50 6f, 23 runners. Minimum Weight 7-10 Penalties after August 11th, a winner 6lb
[±±"THE FURLONG POLE!!"±±]
[Horse(s) from our "Horses to Follow" Feature] -->
[T.H.E. R.O.O.K.] -->Undeterred, Honesty Fair, Night Flight, Needwood Blade, Seven No Trumps, Armagnac, Juwwi, Rudik, Tayif, Technician, Amaranth, Ambitious, Labrett, Pays D'Amour, Danielle's Lad, Ho Leng, Starbeck, and Bon Ami all have claims in a trappy finale. Stewards' Cup third Undeterred is sure to be top of many people's list, and should go well, however I'll pass him over for Armagnac who is a pretty decent handicapper, who has gone well in his last two efforts at Leicester and Newcastle, and if he gets the run of the race, is capable of getting into the money.
[NØ.1 CHOICE] --> Armagnac, (e/w)
[POSITIVES & NEGATIVES?] -->
[ALTERNATIVE] --> Undeterred

Success Stories

THE JULY MEETING
Gossamer (12/1), Proudwings (10/1), Meshaheer, Smirk, Silent Honor, Dubai Destination, Brave Burt, Cop My Gator, and Yorkshire, were winning selections for The Flatman, and The Rook at the meeting.

THE IRISH DERBY
Galileo won as expected, however Mordshi, and Pugin did us proud !!!

ROYAL ASCOT
Bank Hill (4/1), Medicean at (11/2), plus And Beyond (11/1), Supreme Encounter (7/1),Life is Life (2/1), Royal Rebel (8/1), Beekeeper (14/1), and Johannesburg (11/8) were our winners at the meeting.

THE DERBY
"Dilshaan won the Dante in good style and is my preference from this camp purely in that tactics looks to be more straightforward for him and he looks assured to stay based on York. He also has the jockey for the big occasion on board. However, for the selection I will choose Galileo. Unbeaten and untested so far his best performance came last time and the form has already been devalued. Despite this it is the potential this one holds which fires my imagination and there seems an heir of confidence in the Irish camp. Unlike Hills and Stoute he is the sole representative from the 6 entries that O'Brien left in at the recent declaration stage. There are always question marks about Saddlers Well's stock and the 12F trip but Imagine went some way to putting that theory to bed yesterday. It also goes without saying that the stable are in simply super form which is another plus. I take him to beat Dilshaan and Putra Sandhurst. Golan (I think) will come full of running but not get home"
