Analysis & Selections by .i.l.
r.o.o.k. - Whether it be "the
race of the day" or a small prize round the gaffs, we will attempt to use our knowledge of the formbook to highlight the fancied horses participating each day and their characteristics and requirements. Hopefully this 'second opinion' provides you with a winner or two each day, or even reinforces your own view on a particular may even convince you to back some of those horses which we feel are the "ones to fear", or have decent eachway claims. whichever is the case, we hope the information is of use to you.
SELECTIONS - For each race, we have given you who, in our view, are the likeliest winners; [¹ NØ.1 CHOICE], as well as any runners who could run well at eachway odds; [²E/W
ALTERNATIVE] . Any runner from our features are shown before each race's analysis.

MILANO
Domenica 12 Maggio
Sunday, May 12
15:00 - Premio Naviglio P. Grande (2400 M 33000 Euro)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Only four line up for this opener, however they are closely matched. Crymar who
finished fourth to Sammarco (who reopposes here) and Einstein over course and
distance four weeks ago and Mix, a decisive winner of his last two starts, look to have the best claims ... Mix is taken to land a hatrick of
successes
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬>Mix
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬> Sammarco
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬> Crymar
15:30 - Premio Delle Patronesse Disc. / P. Grande (1700 M 8000 Euro)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬> Lucky Luce, (fourth last week at Torino , but who had was the winner of his previous two starts) Stracch, (second last time out at Firenze) and Bel Tag ( a winner at Treviso) in April, look best of the five runners who line up in
the second. Stracch is taken to score
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬> Stracch,
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Lucky Luce,
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Bel Tag
16:00 - Premio Grande Steeple
Chase. Di Milano {Gr. 1} / Steeple Ch. (5000 M 155000 Euro)
1 Ask Me Why (66½kg)
2 Cecco Stayer (65½kg)
3 Eros Du Berlais (65½kg)
4 Gerko (65½kg)
5 Merlino Mago (65½kg)
6 Owenbwee (65½kg)
7 Royal Hoc (65½kg)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Considering the prize money on offer it is amazing that
British owners haven't tried to land this prize ... whilst he wont win Owenbwee's presence ( an ordinary handicapper in this country at this
best) shows the opportunity missed. Ask Me Why representing the Thierry Civel/Cristophe Pieux combo give france a strong hand, and a repeat of his recent form at
Enghien (which includes a good second to Homme Du Jour in the Prix Journaliste) would see him going close
here, howevr I think he'll have to give best to Cecco Stayer, a decent Italian chaser, who last time out beat Costantino Re (another
decent performer) at Torino at the end of last month.
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬> Cecco Stayer
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬¬Ask Me Why
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬> Royal Hoc
16:30 - Premio Corsa Siepi Dei 4 Anni {Gr. 2} / Siepi (3600 M 96580 Euro)
1 Carvalho (65kg)
2 Corgetta (65kg)
3 Del Mar Dancer (65kg)

8 Windlight (65kg)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ are there any runners from "ONE TO JUMP 2003" our feature which; each season, provides a list of horses to follow during the national hunt season? ¦:¬>Negro (POL)
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Some of Italy's best four year old hurdlers clash in the next. Carvalho, Negro,
Plinsky and Windlight look to be the likeliest winners. Plinsky has been a
revelation of late and couldn't have been more impressive in winning his only two starts here in
April ... however I'll be hoping that Negro continues the good run of "ONE TO JUMP 2003". We've been charting his
progression in our Focus on France feature last season, and I had no hesitation in adding him to the new season's listing.
On his last start here over 3400 metres he made all and beat Alexandroff , who has since come out and taken a Grade 3 event.... He is a free
running sort so I am a little concerned about him over this distance, but he is the class act here, and he should oblige as long as he
doesn't defeat himself
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬>Negro (POL)
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Plinsky
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Del Mar Dancer
17:00 - Premio Coppa D'oro Cl.Dadi Disc. / P. Grande (2000 M 10000 Euro)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Six line up in the next, however only Mr Titanic, (a winner at Pisa in December) and Cosmatos (a winner already twice this year, most
recently at Torino at the end of April ) make any appeal .... Cosmatos is taken to score
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬>Cosmatos
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Mr Titanic,
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Take Off Time

¦ are there any runners from "ONE TO JUMP 2003" our feature which; each season, provides a list of horses to follow during the national hunt season? ¦:¬>Bagni Di Petriolo (ITY)
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Bagni Di Petriolo has looked imperious so far this year and easily landed the Gran Corsa di Siepi di Roma (Hurdle) at
Capannelle on his latest start from Sardoum who reopposes him here. He meets him on
slightly more advantageous terms but not enough to reverse the placings... Actually German raider Hannover House who won the Lauf Stall Jenny - Cup / Hürdenrennen at
Munchen Riem at the beginning of April, may ultimately prove to be the main danger
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬>Bagni Di Petriolo (ITY)
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Hannover House
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Sardoum
18:00 - Premio Clemente Papi Disc. / Siepi (3400 M 15000 Euro)
1 Quim Di San Jore (75kg)
2 Golden Jean's (73kg)
3 Jeu Des Pres (70kg)
4 Seduction (69½kg)
5 Sopran Liz (68kg)
6 Londrina (66kg)
7 Strongal (66kg)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>... Another hurdle event . Quim Di San Jore (who
finished fourth to Cecco Stayer last time our at Torino), Golden Jean's ( a winner last time at Treviso), Jeu Des Pres ( a winner
twice this year), Seduction (who finished behind Jeu de Pres last time, hi first run of the year), and Strongal (a winner at Torino last time out) look th best bets. Seduction; a five year old by Hams will
have come on "a ton" for his first effort and is taken to score here.
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬> Seduction
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Jeu Des Pres
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Quim Di San Jore
18:30 - Premio Coppa Della Sire Disc. / P. Grande (1500 M 10000 Euro)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Nine runners line up for the penultimate event, over
7½furlongs... Of these Flag Of Democracy, who won here over seven furlongs, from Canaima, Master Soden and Game N Gifted (who all reoppose here today), and Gianky Gioffry ( who has a victory over Flag of
Democracy this term, but who finished behind him when coming home fourth last time out over this trip at Pisa) appear to have th best chances. I think Flag Of Democracy will score, but it will be close
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬>Flag Of Democracy
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Gianky Gioffry
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Canaima,
19:00 - Premio Cala Violina Disc. / P. Grande (2000 M 22000 Euro)
¦¤¤¤¤¤¤{a}{t}-{t}{h}{e}-{p}{o}{s}{t}¤¤¤¤¤¤¦
¦ .i.l. .r.o.o.k. ¦:¬>Eight contest the last, and only thee appear to have claims.... Dawing who came second
in a similar event last time out at Torino; the inconsistent Macks, who has already twice this term at Pisa and Roma, but appears to
intersperse poor efforts between good ones; and Prode Anselmo, who finished
behind Dawing last time out , but who previously had run well here twice in similar events ... Macks is a
tentative selection
¦ 1è CHOICE ¹ ¦:¬>Macks,
¦ 2nd Choice ¦:¬>Dawing
¦ 3rd Choice ¦:¬>Prode Anselmo
