Analysis & Selections by

.r.o.o.k. & the spy.
Whether it be "the race of the day" or a small prize round the gaffs, we will attempt to use our knowledge of the formbook to highlight the fancied horses participating
each day and their characteristics and requirements. Hopefully this 'second opinion' provides you with a winner or two each day, or
even reinforces your own view on a particular may even convince you to back some of those horses which we feel are the "ones to fear", or have decent eachway claims. whichever is the case, we hope the information is of use to you.
SELECTIONS - For each race, we have given you who, in our view, are the likeliest winners;
(1er WAHL), as well as any runners who could run well at eachway odds;
(plaziert-wettend) . Any runner from our features are shown before each race's analysis.

NUMITAS (GER)

¦ the trainer ¦:¬> Sir Mark Prescott
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬> Now that Sir Mark Prescott's two year olds have been begun to find the winners enclosure, it seems and opportune time to find a couple to watch out for during the remainder of the season. I noted that this
individual - A half-brother to 4 winners, including German Listed winners Nenuphar and National Academy, (dam was a triple 3yo winner in Germany, grand-daughter of smart 2yo in Germany) has been
entered up. His pedigree suggests that middle distances will suit - so he could be interesting, especially if he gets the opportunity to race over trip in excess of 6f this term (especially in Nurseries)
XCESS BAGGAGE

¦ the trainer ¦:¬> W J Haggas
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬> Xcess Baggage may not be the best juvenile in the world, however he has shown plenty of promise of both starts, including last time out at Southwell, when he stayed on strongly to get within 11/4lentgths of the winner Wahoo Sam, with the third seven lengths back in third. Is good enough to land a maiden, but
could be particularly interesting once he qualified for nurseries.
HAILE SELASSIE

¦ the trainer ¦:¬> B W Hills
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬> I like the more backward two-year-old mainly as they is
probably a greater likelihood of them improving over a longer period. Haile Selassie who
disappointed last time out at Newbury in June, had previously shown plenty of promise on his debut. He has shown plenty of greenness on both starts, so could prove interesting "once
the penny drops" ... another who come well in nurseries.

¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬> Dot Com Dot; a promising fifth on her debut at Windsor, built on that effort when finishing a good second to Monksford at
Hamilton. Dot Com Dot knew more about the game this time and did enough to suggest a similar event is now within her capabilities.
MAJESTIC HORIZON

¦ added on ¦:¬>Sunday, July 21, 2002
¦ the trainer ¦:¬> D R Loder
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬>I really liked Majestic Horizon, a half-brother to 3yo Artists Retreat, unplaced at 2, and 4yo Gravieres. I selected him on his debut at Newmarket, where he was very weak in the market, yet ran a cracker, looking all over a winner for much of the way only to falter as he edged right close home. He's 100% certain to come on from this run and at the very least win a maiden before stepping up in class.
BEHRA (IRE)

¦ added on ¦:¬>Sunday, July 21, 2002
¦ the trainer ¦:¬> Sir Michael Stoute
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬> Behra - a very well related daughter of Grand Lodge, who is a half sister to top class chaser Behrajan, ran a sound race on her debut keeping on willingly enough from midfield to get within 21/2Lengths of hot favourite Spinnette on her debut at
Newmarket's July Meeting. On this evidence connections will be keen to get a win out of her, which will guarantee her future as a broodmare... she should do this and a
bit more on this evidence.
SILVER MYSTIQUE (USA)

¦ added on ¦:¬>Sunday, July 21, 2002
¦ the trainer ¦:¬> Charles O'Brien
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬> Silver Mystique - a virtually while filly by the american sire Airdrie Apache
hasn't cut much ice in third starts thus far, however she has appear to improve as she is stepped up in trip and
didn't run too badly when finishing third to Ilios at Navan on her last start. She is no great
shakes, however she may continue to improve as she steps up in trip .. and hopefully land a little handicap.
SWEETSTOCK
b f Anshan - Stockline
[ age ] :¬>4
¦ added on ¦:¬>Sunday, July 21, 2002
¦ the trainer ¦:¬> G A Butler
¦ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ¦:¬>I was interested to note that connections have kept Sweetstock, a four year old daughter of Anshan in training, particularly as
she hadn't cut much ice when she raced at three. She was having her first race since October 2001, when she came
third to Classic Millenium at Lingfield on 10-07-02, Sweetstock showed plenty of promise on her first run after a long layoff.
Travelling well in mid-division throughout, before getting her head in front with just over a
furlong to go. Lack of fitness then told, and she weakened away, however that effort will
put her right, and she looks capable of landing a similar race in due course.

HARLESTONE GREY
b g Shaamit (IRE) - Harlestone Lake
[ age ] :¬> 4
¦ the trainer ¦:¬>John Dunlop
[ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ]:¬> Ran an excellent second to Warrsan at Goodwood (14F-Good) on 23 May going down by a head. This was quite a step up in form based on a sole middle distance maiden victory at Bath last season together with some rather modest efforts overall. In view of the progressive nature of Warrsan (ran with credit in the Ascot Gold Cup), to try and concede 8lbs to this individual was probably a stiff task. There was
3 ½ lengths back to the third horse at Goodwood and it looks like good form. Now that his trainer appears confident that this horse can handle quicker ground he should finds winning opportunities not only next time but as the season progresses.
JOHNNY OSCAR
b.g. Belmez (USA) - Short Rations
[ age ] :¬> 5
[ the trainer ]:¬> James Fanshawe
[ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ]:¬> James Fanshawe has been at pains to only run this horse (linked to that good stayer Artic Owl) on ground which contains suitable give. He would be best advised to look for races only at two miles (but preferably over further) on this surface based on his two efforts this season as he does not appear to have Artic Owl's basic speed at 14F. At York last time on 14 June at this
trip (while being very unlucky in running - he flew at the finish after finding no run) he was always struggling to get to the leaders after being held up despite travelling well throughout. He was beaten just over 4 lengths. Previously, he could never get to Ocean Tide and looked short of pace and that was over the 2 mile trip on soft but he might have needed that. Overall then, good handicaps can come this one's way at two miles and beyond and we suspect the softer the surface the better.
WATER KING (USA)
b. c. Irish River (FR) - Brookshield Baby (IRE)
[ age ] :¬> 2
¦ the trainer ¦:¬>Ed Dunlop
[ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ]:¬> One assumes connections spent the time between this one's reappearance at Leicester in April (where he pulled the arms off his jockey) - where he still ran promisingly,- and his next start on 17 June on settling this fellow in his races. Connections seem to have achieved that aim based on his
second of eleven at Windsor to Football Crazy (in the form of his life) where he stayed on to good effect to chase home the enterprisingly ridden winner despite starting at 16-1. In effect, it was the policy of restraint which was his undoing in that his jockey was at pains to settle him in and he
couldn't quite get up. Although, raised for that effort, he still looks well handicapped and can deliver next time at around 10F.
SALADIM
b. c. Lahib (USA) - Wathbat Mtoto
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ]:¬>M A Jarvis
[ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ]:¬> Saladim, a good-looker three year old son of Lahib, was beaten a long way by hotpot Funfair at
Carlisle on 16.06.02, however he did stay on well enough to suggest that Michael
Jarvis could find a little race (or two hopefully) for him once he is properly
handicapped, after his next run..... He wouldn't mind going a little further either.
SOLTAAT
b. c. Royal Applause - About Face
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ]:¬>A C Stewart
[ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ]:¬> A lot of nonsense has been stirred up by the Kenyon Confronts programme... One of the things he failed to pick up (or actually
appreciate) is that like humans, some horses mature at a slower rate, and there are good reasons to go initially softly-softly with them ... I think Soltaat is a good example of this. Alec Stewart is renowned for not
rushing his horses, so considering his began his career in September is fair to assume that Alec
Stewart clearly thought he would be better at three . His three starts last term clearly
indicated that this was the case, as he wasn't sighted in any of these starts. He has clearly
benefited for this sympathetic approach as he started the campaign by finishing 5lengths behind Pinchbeck at Haydock in May. He stepped up on that effort last time out at
Redcar, wandering under pressure close home to finish 1 ¼lengths behind Boo B Prize. He is rated 47 and is
no great shakes, however he will continue to progress and should be able to get his head in front in the not too distance future
RAJASTHAN
b. c. Spectrum - Sherkova (USA)
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ]:¬>J. R. Fanshawe
[ .c.o.m.m.e.n.t.s. ]:¬> Another who should prove worth watching out
for, is Rajasthan, an encouraging third at Sandown on his second start on
04.06.02. held up towards the rear, Rajasthan made steady progress from 4f out, staying on at the one-pace from 1f out, eventually
finishing 7lengths behind teh winner Latest Moment. This was over 1m 2f, and he should be seen to best effect, over this distance, or a bit further after his next start.

DAWN INVASION
bc Common Grounds - Princess of Zurich
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> Mrs A Perrett
[ comments ] :¬> Belated re-appearance at Salisbury (has been waiting for the ground to soften) on June 11 when comfortably landing a Class C Classified Stakes event over 10F. Looks to be set for a bright season based on this pleasing effort (quickened up nicely against race fit opponents) and we can see him landing a good handicap or two before the seasons ends. Has plenty of speed in his pedigree and probably
wouldn't want to go any further than the 10F he won over at Salisbury - might even be better at slightly shorter I suspect - certainly showed plenty of pace in this event. Reported likely to benefit from this race according to some paddock judges, so encouraging that this always highly regarded colt should win so comfortably. Has a good turn of foot to boot.
DESERT AIR (JPN)
ch c Desert King - Greek Air
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Paul Cole
[ comments ] :¬> Paul Cole's Japanese bred three year old ran three times last
August -trailing in eighth on his debut, before finished second on his second start at Leicester, keeping on in the final furlong to
finish 8lengths behind the winner Night Aurora. On his final start at Newcastle, he arguably ran his best race keeping on nicely to
finish fourth to Fashionable Man. He should appreciate middle distances this term, and
should be capable of finding a race or two

BLACK PEPPER
b.f Salse (USA) - Saint Ann (USA)
[ age ] :¬> 2
[ the trainer ] :¬> Mark Johnston
[ comments ] :¬>Black Pepper's caught the eye on his debut at
Newcastle ten days ago, where after travelling well, he began to hang left -
becoming virtually unsteerable in the closing stages. She looked likely to win at halfway and if this error can be ironed out looks certain to find other opportunities this year
HEAT HAZE
b.f Green Desert (USA) - Hasili
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ] :¬> Andre Fabre
[ comments ] :¬>I've always liked this filly, who I know
connections hold in the highest regards. Heat Haze has had three races so
far, winning her maiden at Chantilly, because finishing second to Sea of
Showers in a Conditions event at Longchamp at the end of April. She was allowed
to take her chance in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches last weekend and didn't
disgrace herself from the outside draw staying on strongly up the straight
to finished 5th behind Zenda. Expect her to progress throughout the
remainder of the season and she may ultimately prove to be a decent filly
at or around a mile.

DAWARI
b. c In the Wings - Dawala
[ age ] :¬> 4
[ the trainer ] :¬> Sir Michael Stoute
[ comments ] :¬>Anyone who saw this one scoot home in a Windsor maiden last season could not have failed to have been impressed (won 4 lengths but was heavily eased). On the strength of that I immediately felt the Epsom Derby was a possibility and his trainer Sir Michael Stoute clearly thought this was a possibility as Dawari's next start was in the Chester Vase where he disappointed (ill at ease with the track and the faster ground - clearly needs some cut were valid excuses). Not seen since. He remains in training and has held some nice entries in Group events in 2002 but has yet to take up these options. Dawari is just the type of horse Sir Michael does so well with - he never rushes such animals - and if he can get him on to the track (clearly there may have been a problem or two) then this patience can be rewarded at around 12F when conditions are in his favour.
CAQUI D'OR
b. c Danehill [U.S.A.] -Ghaiya [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬> 4
[ the trainer ] :¬> J Dunlop
[ comments ] :¬>Caqui D'Or remains largely unexposed. 3 wins last term - seemed to improve with step up in trip - and best effort in quite valuable Class D handicap at Haydock in September. Has always looked as if two miles+ would suit and this type of trip could bring out more improvement this season. John Dunlop looks sure to place him well and being lightly raced looks sure to exploit a reasonable handicap mark. Ran encouragingly in the Queen's Prize at Kempton (not the clearest of runs) on reappearance this term. Seems to act on all surfaces but enjoys some cut.
ALBANOVA
gr.f Alzao [U.S.A.] -Alouette
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ] :¬> Sir Mark Prescott
[ comments ] :¬>One run - one win. This came in a 7F maiden at Haydock in September on heavy ground - just average form. The breeding of this one stayed in my mind at the time (from the same source as Champion Stakes winner Alborada) who Sir Mark Prescott placed so well and Alleluia who took on all challengers last season. Middle distances should suit therefore and I anticipate this one being open to plenty of improvement as the season progresses. Just how good she could be we simply don't know just yet but let's just say we are hopeful.
CALGARTH
b.f Efisio - Waypoint
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ] :¬> W J Haggas
[ comments ] :¬>One for the minor tracks/smaller handicaps I suspect over sprint distances (although I suspect may be effective over as far as 7F). Nicely bred (plenty of speed without question) and her trainer often does well with such types. No great encouragement from 3 starts last season but if breeding means anything...............
MARIKA
b.f Marju - Nordica
[ age ] :¬>4
[ the trainer ] :¬> G Wragg
[ comments ] :¬>First impressed by this one when unlucky in Cheshire Oaks last May. Subsequently dropped back in trip and duly followed up in a maiden (8F) at Haydock before running well again behind the smart Smirk at Newmarket. Remains unexposed and open to improvement this season especially since she has transferred from Barry Hills to Geoff Wragg who has a unique talent with his female representatives. Distances around a mile should suit (7F probably on the short side) although this one is not short of pace.
ASIAN HEIGHTS
b. c Hernando (FR) - Miss Rinjani
[ age ] :¬> 4
[ the trainer ] :¬> G Wragg
[ comments ] :¬>Not really a dark horse after his well publicized Predominate Stakes win in the Goodwood Derby trial last May and subsequent injury. Not raced since but entered up in Group level races this season though yet to reappear. Included here as it is easy to forget just how impressive he was that day at Goodwood showing a decisive turn of foot which I felt at the time would have given him a real shout in the Epsom event itself. Though a slight risk remains that the injury might have left its mark he remains unexposed on the track and being so lightly raced has plenty of scope to improve on his already high level of form. Acts on fast but might always prefer an easier surface. 10 -12F looks the trip.
SYSTEMATIC
b. c Rainbow Quest [U.S.A.] -Sensation
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ] :¬> M Johnston
[ comments ] :¬>We hope we have not missed the boat with this individual (3 wins already in the current season) through the delay in the publication of this list. We remain optimistic that this strapping son of Rainbow Quest specimen has the scope to go on to even better things. Certainly we feel he is low enough in the handicap (even after his York success) to go onto land another handicap or two probably in much stiffer class. We confident that the best is still to come - 8F to 10F seems ideal. He seems to enjoy dominating in his races tactics which proved effective at Leicester and York for his most recent successes.
WATER KING [U.S.A.]
b. c Irish River (FR) - Brookshield Baby
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> E. Dunlop
[ comments ] :¬>A handicapper to watch out for this season over middle distances (10F could be about right) if our judgement is correct. Let's hope so as he is now qualified for handicaps after three fairly average efforts last season over 7F. He was always going to make a better three year old and were hopeful that Ed Dunlop can steer him into the winners enclosure this term.
IMPERIAL THÉÂTRE
b. c Saddlers Wells [U.S.A.]- Aunt Pearl
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> John Gosden
[ comments ] :¬>John Gosden has such a strong team of lightly raced horses in his care that you could almost fill such a list of horses with his horses alone. We have plumped for Imperial
Théâtre based on an encouraging debut effort over 7F last backend at Doncaster. In finishing 3rd behind stablemate Proven his potential was there for all to see (running on nicely after running green and not given a hard time). We anticipate bigger and better things this season (probably starting in a maiden event) and we expect big things (but we're not quite sure how big) to reward the patience he has been shown.
GHANNAM [U.S.A.]
b. c Langfuhr [CAN] - Katerina Key [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬> 3
[ the trainer ] :¬> M P Tregoning
[ comments ] :¬>Difficult not to be have impressed with Ghannam' s good effort at York this week from a seemingly
unfavourable outside draw in a twenty runner handicap. Carrying topweight on his handicap debut, Ghannam showed plenty of dash and travelled best to take it up with 11/2 f to go, before failing to withhold the late thrust of the winner Macaw (who was in receipt of 20lb. For the moment 7-8f appears to be as far as he
wants to go and it will be big surprise if he fails to get back into the winners enclosure.
GATEMAN
b. g Owington - Scandalette
[ age ] :¬> 5
[ the trainer ] :¬> M Johnston
[ comments ] :¬>Another to catch our eye at the Dante Meeting was Gateman, who was having his first run for almost 12 months, in one of the sprints. A winner on three occasions in this
country as a two year old, Gateman was sent to race in the US, where he has winning form over 8-9f.
Considering this was over 5f, it surely must bode well for the future that he was able that off of topweight, he was able to get within of the winner Chookie Heiton, and second
Trace Clip (conceding weight all round) ...a return to the winners' enclosure surely isn't too far away.

Gr c In The Wings - Summer Sonnet
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> Jonathan Pease in France
[ comments ] :¬> Gerald Leigh is a lucky man, as apart from owning Gossamer who looks to have outstanding
claims in our 1000 Guineas, he also owns Act One, who if he trains on appears to have Classic pretension in France. I saw his last race of the year, when he displayed a fine turn of foot to beat
Landseer in the Grand Prix Criterium de Saint-Cloud {Gr.1}. I'd be surprised if he didn't lift another Group One prize this
season
ARIES [GER]
Ch f Big Shuffle [U.S.A.] - Auenlust [GER]
[ age ] :¬>2

say that the dam's sire Surumu tends to get middle distance progeny ... I'm sure there are races
to be won with her
ATAHUELPA
Bc Hernando [FR] - Certain Story
[ age ] :¬>2

ESLOOB [U.S.A.]
b f Diesis - Roseate Tern
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> M P Tregoning
[ comments ] :¬> Esloob showed plenty of promise at two, beating a useful sort in Snowfire on her debut at Newmarket in August, before staying to be a respectable
third to Gossamer in the Hoover Fillies Mille at Ascot . As her dam was top class over staying trips connections must be hoping that she excels in this department
ESSENCE OF DUBAI [U.S.A.]
br c Pulpit [U.S.A.] - Epitome [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Saeed Bin Suroor
[ comments ] :¬> Essence Of Dubai looks set for a good season, if his two runs since
joining Saeed Bin Suroor are anything to go by. He won on both occasion at Nad El Sheba, on both occasions showing great
resolve to take the spoils, particularly in the UAE Derby where he looks to be in a hopeless position turning for home. This useful ex-U.S.A. Godolphin recruit looks as though he'll improves over a distance of ground, and it wouldn't surprise me if he took one of the legs of the Triple Crown
[The Belmont may be his best chance]. He'd be interesting if he could handle the turf
FAST MIX
Gr c Linamix [FR] - Fascinating Hill [FR]
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Andre Fabre in France
[ comments ] :¬> Fast Mix is an unraced son of Linamix, whose pedigree suggests that he should do well at middle distance/. Primarily in here because he could be purchased later on for a jumping campaign .. I'm like to keep tabs on his
progression
FLAG DAY [JPN]
b or br c Sunday Silence [U.S.A.] - National Flag [JPN]
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Saeed Bin Suroor
[ comments ] :¬>Flag Day could be anything. This Japanese bred three year old won his only start at Chantilly in July over 7furlongs in July by 3/4 of a
length. He pedigree suggests that middle distance should suit .. it'll be interesting to see how he gets on
HIGH STREET
Bc Mark of Esteem - Kentmere [FR]
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>M. Channon
[ comments ] :¬>nicely bred son of Mark of Esteem, owned by Sheikh Mohammed who
hopefully should find opportunities this term over 6-7f.
IBN AL HAITHAM
B c Zafonic [U.S.A.] - Awaasif [CAN]
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Saeed Bin Suroor
[ comments ] :¬>Ibn Al Haitham must be one of the best maidens around boasting top class form on the dirt in the U.S.A., behind the likes of Historic Speech, Hawk's Top Gun, Essence Of Dubai, and Johannesburg. He confirmed his
well-being when staying on stoutly to finish 2 3/4lengths behind Essence of Dubai in the UAE Derby at Nad El Sheba ... interestingly his
pedigree suggest he could be better suited to the turf, and I wouldn't be in the least but surprised if he
wasn't aggressively campaigned by Saeed Bin Suroor in this sphere this term.
JUDHOOR
Bf Alhaarth - Almurooj
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>Barry W. Hills
[ comments ] :¬>Hamdan Al Maktoum' s two year old daughter of Alhaarth
is beautifully bred and I'll be hoping she'll develops into one of the better two year old fillies this term.
LAUTREC [SWI]
ch c Peintre Celebre [U.S.A.] - La Venta [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>John Dunlop
[ comments ] :¬>As yet Lautrec is unraced, however I like his pedigree
[however it does suggest that he may be in nurseries/three year old handicaps that we see the best of him .. time will tell
L'OISEAU D'ARGENT

LIFFEY
Brc Desert Prince - Toujours Irish [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬>2

Bc Nureyev [U.S.A.] - Doe [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬>4
[ the trainer ] :¬>Willie. J. Haggis

will find a race for him this term
MAN TO REMEMBER
B c Among Men [U.S.A.] - Catch The Lights
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>Brian Meehan
[ comments ] :¬>` Brian Meehan has an outstanding record with his two year olds and I
chose this son of the American sire Among Men as the horse to follow from his yard.
MICHAEL MAHER
b c Indian Ridge - Well Proud
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Michael A Jarvis
[ comments ] :¬>Michael Maher is another backward three year old in this list, having only had the one run, where he finished in the ruck at Newmarket in November. Hopefully he'll prosper once he is officially handicapped.
OOPS
b c In The Wings - Atsuko
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> James G Given
[ comments ] :¬> Oops has moved yards having been in training with Luca Cumani last year. He is unraced and his pedigree suggests that middle distances will suit. He could
develop into a nice handicapper around the smaller track by the end of the season .. who knows he may even make a hurdler in time.

[ comments ] :¬> Our Weddingpresent frankly showed very little last year in three
starts, giving every indication that he required more time to strengthen up. he now has however
obtained a handicap mark and being related to several winners here and in the US, it wouldn't be the greatest surprise if Martin Pipe squeezes a win or two out of him
ONCE [FR]
Grc Hector Prospector [U.S.A.] - Moon Magic
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>michael Bell
[ comments ] :¬>Unraced two year old by Hector Prospector out of a Polish Precedent mare ... unraced at the time of writing... looks nice on paper

PENNYGHAEL [UAE]
Chf Pennekamp [U.S.A.] - Kerraa
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>M. Channon
[ comments ] :¬>I think Sheikh Mohammed will enjoy watching one of his homebred daughter will a decent prize in
Britain. Pennyghael may have to wait until next term for that, but she looks good on paper, and I hope she can win over 6-7f this season.
PONT D'OR
b c Exit To Nowhere [U.S.A.] - Pont Audemer [U.S.A.]
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> D Sepulchre in france
[ comments ] :¬> Pont D'or is difficult to gauge however went straight into my notebook, after I saw him run away with his only start ay Saint
Cloud at the backend of last season over 10furlongs on bottomless ground. I'd expect him to win races this term... He may be useful.
QABAS [U.S.A.]
bc Swain - Classical Dance [CAN]
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>Alec Stewart
[ comments ] :¬>Attractively bred two year old from Alec Stewart's yard
looks like he'll be better at three, however hopefully will show promise this term
HIGH PITCHED
ch c Indian Ridge - Place De L'Opera
[ age ] :¬>4
[ the trainer ] :¬> H R A Cecil
[ comments ] :¬>Difficult ro out of any calculations after showing improved form throughout the season, winning four times at Haydock,
Doncaster and Newmarket twice, most recently when coming from behind t o pick off Head in the Clouds and Mubtaker in the St Simon Stakes (Group 3). Assuming he is kept in training , it is difficult to see him not building of this most
promising first season under rules.

[ age ] :¬>2

effect between 6-8f this season
SULK
ch f Selkirk [U.S.A.] - Masskana
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬> John H M Gosden
[ comments ] :¬> Sulk progressed with each start and must have surpassed her trainer's
expectations by taking the Prix Marcel Boussac {gr. 1} on her final start of last season, by a head from the useful French filly Danseuse D'Etoile. As her dam was a winner over 1m2f in France, there must be a good chance that she'll stay at least this trip at three .. she looks set for another good season
MUTINYONTHEBOUNTY
b c Sadler's Wells [U.S.A.] - Threatening
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Aiden O'Brien
[ comments ] :¬>Mutinyonthebounty isn't one of the stars from Ballydoyle, however any horse that can win the Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) (coming from last place to challenge up the inside and stay on dourly, to beat Tholjanah and Asheer), and also get within 2¾ lengths of Act One and Landseer in the Criterium International (Group 1) at Saint Cloud, should be able to find races at three
SUCCINCT
Chf Hector Prospector [U.S.A.] -
[ age ] :¬>3
[ the trainer ] :¬>Henry Cecil
[ comments ] :¬>An unraced three year old by Hector Prospector by a Unfawain mare, whose pedigree
suggests that she will improve as she is upped in distance
SUGAR PLUM SARAH
Bc Turtle Island - Lucky Pick
[ age ] :¬>2

of the season
WEQAAR [U.S.A.]
Brf Red Ransom [U.S.A.] - Thawakib
[ age ] :¬>2
[ the trainer ] :¬>John Dunlop
[ comments ] :¬> Weqaar is another unraced two year old that caught my eye. I'll
be hoping that this daughter of Red Ransom develops into a nice 6-7f filly this season.
