This is the Prestigious July Meeting, three days of racing culminating in the July Cup, probably the best 6furlong sprint run in Europe each season.
The Course
Newmarket is unique in providing two complete and distinct racecourses.
The Rowley Course, situated on the fringes of the town, hosts racing of the highest calibre, including two of the five Classic Races, the 1000 and 2000 Guineas in May, and one of the UK's richest race days, Champions' Day in October. There is a straight ten-furlong course, which is wide, and galloping. Races over 12 furlongs or more are right handed. The course has a long run-in and a stiff finish
The July Racecourse resides alongside the National Stud on the western approach to the town. It is a course that delights visitors with its timeless charm and garden party atmosphere and plays host to the illustrious July Meeting and the now-famous evening meetings, which feature live bands performing after racing. Races up to a mile are on the Bunbury course, which also is straight. Races over 10furlongs or more are right handed with a seven-furlong run in Like the Rowley Course, the July Course is stiff.
The finishes at both courses are significant as horses meet rising ground from about two furlongs out (referred to as the dip) it isn't uncommon, for horses to have snatched apparent victory snatched from their grasp, as they falter up close home.
Newmarket (July Course)
Day One of the July Meeting
Tuesday 11 July 2000
2.05 Strutt & Parker Maiden Stakes (Class D) £8000 added, 2yo only, 7f, Penalty £6207.50, 12 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ Nice easy opener... Twelve horses make their debuts in the first on the card. Historically this race tends to find a useful sort or two to watch out for over the coming months. My friend The Flatman informs me that there is good word for Londoner, which should be considered, as his trainer Henry Cecil's youngsters have a fine record at the July Meeting. You'd think he'd figure. Of the other, Rosi's Boy, [half-brother to smart 7f/1m performers Generous Libra and Bin Rosie]; Mr Combustible [half-brother to Ribblesdale winner Miletrian], and Mawhoob [half-brother to Princess Royal Stakes (1m4f) winner Labibeh and 7f winner Zihaam by champion sprinter Dayjur] make most appeal. The last named looks potentially most interesting and gets the nod
No 1 CHOICE ~ Mawhoob
e/W Alt.. ~Mr Combustible
2.35 H & K Commissions Bookmakers Stakes (Showcase Handicap) (Class D) £12000 added, 3yo plus, 1m, Penalty £9776.00, 19 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ Iron Mountain, I Cried For You, Topton, Barabaschi, Indium, Dolphinelle, Eastern Spice, Tornado Prince, and Calldat Seventeen, are amongst those who have claims in the second. I cried for You, heads the weights, and is in good heart a presnet. His 3/4engths win over Hyperactive at Doncaster last time reads well in this field and another showing can be expected. Iron Mountain finished second in this last year and is likely to made another bold bid here. Topton excels around this course, and is one of those horses that enjoys coming through their field, the course's stiff incline encourages him to run on and seal his prey's fate. As he is coming to back to form judging by his recent effort, he could well go close here. The same can be said for the frustrating Barabaschi, still a maiden after seven runs, having been placed in all bar one. He has finished 2nd in his last four starts, and is either very unlucky or a little ungenuine (sic). I cant predict how the draw is going to effect this race, you would have thought though that Barabaschi is an eachway steal, and sooner or later he'll get that head in front (I Hope!!!)
No 1 CHOICE ~ Barabaschi e/W [R*ecommended],
Alt.. ~ Topton
3.05 Thehorsesmouth.co.uk Cherry Hinton Stakes (Class A) (Group 2) £50000 added, 2yo only fillies, 6f, Penalty £29000.00, 12 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ The first Group race of the meeting is a tricky affair. Good to soft ground is an unknown factor for several of the fancied runners. Of those in the race Santolina, Enthused, Freshwater Pearl, and Freefourracing make most appeal. Santolina looked unlucky here on her last start where she could get no run from halfway until the final furlong, and finished best of all to be 2nd to In the Wood. She'll go well if she handles the conditions. Alinga, and Good Twosues finished behind that day and looked held, though a case could maybe be made for the latter, who was slowly away and had to weave through before finishing as strongly as Santolina but from further behind. Its hard to know what Freshwater, and Enthused beat on their respective starts, but they looked good fillies and as representatives of major stables should be respected. Freefourracing is another unbeaten filly that Pat Eddery now rides after the late withdrawal of Autumnal. That interested me straight away as I assume he had the choice of the two so maybe we should something into that. Personally I think she is a good filly, but I think the combination of the track, and going may find her up; certainly she did seem to be 'emptying' when she won at Windsor. That puts me off of her (if i'm wrong, she'll probably win); therefore logically I have to go with the unlucky Santolina
No 1 CHOICE ~ Santolina
e/W Alt.. ~ Goody Twosues
3.40 Princess Of Wales's Stakes (Class A) (Group 2) £60000 added, 3yo plus, 1m 4f, Penalty £34800.00, 6 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ You could make a case for any of the field. Each one of Sea Wave, Yavana's Pace, Little Rock, Lucido, Rainbow Ways, Commander Collins have the form to win the race, but nagging doubts about their form, or resolution. I'll narrow that down to Yavana's Pace, a gallant second to stablemate Fruits of Love in the Group 2 Hardwicke at Royal Ascot last time, and Little Rock a promising winner at Sandown on his seasonal bow, before disappointing badly at Chantilly last time out (finishing behind Lucido). I suspect Yavana's Pace's jockey is going to have to make plenty of use of him, but if he does there's no tougher race in the field, and if it comes down to it, that may well swing the victory his way.
No 1 CHOICE ~ Yavana's Pace
e/W Alt.. ~
4.10 Racingpost.co.uk Fillies' Rated Stakes (Class B Handicap) £15000 added, 3yo only fillies, 7f, Penalty £9488.80, 10 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ Incredulous and Shalimar are two improving fillies who will be very hard to beat in the fifth. Incredulous is a nice sort who lost her maiden tag last time out at Nottingham (by 8 lengths) and improves with her racing. Shalimar requires exaggerated waiting tactics, as she stopped if left in front too long. She does however posses a devastating turn of foot if allowed to utilise it. She did here at the last meeting and again will have the race run to suit. She will be very hard to beat
No 1 CHOICE ~ Shalimar [R*ecommended],
e/W Alt.. ~ Ebba
4.45 Hamilton Rated Stakes (Class B Handicap) £15000 added, 3yo only, 6f, Penalty £10092.00, 18 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ Pedro Jack, Don't Surrender, Aljawf, Peruvian Chief, Baby Barry, Presentation, Rudik, Melanzana, and Punctuate, will figure at the head of the market for this trappy handicap. I respect the claims of Don't Surrender, who has run well is similar types of event this term, most recently when 4Length 3rd to Lincoln Dancer at Haydock. He is bound to figure, however Aljawf is the selection. He was very unlucky in running in his first two starts at Chester and Newbury, so whilst a win at Ripon was nice, it's scant reward for his effort thus far. The track will suit his style of racing, all he needs is a little luck in running
No 1 CHOICE ~ Aljawf [R*ecommended],
e/W Alt.. ~ Melanzana
5.15 Ngk Spark Plugs Soham Handicap (Class D) £8000 added, 3yo plus, 5f, Penalty £6142.50, 13 runners.
The 4Long Pole ~ A decent handicap to end the day, with Bahamian Pirate, Fearby Cross, Annette Vallon, Forgotten Times, Referendum, and At Large, all entitled to close inspection. Preference is for Bahamian Knight, who has bolted up in his last two starts, from a yard renowned for their shrewd judgement. This horse gives the impression of having a bit more to come.
No 1 CHOICE ~ Bahamian Pirate
e/W Alt.. ~Annette Vallon

The July Meeting at Newmarket
This is the Prestigious July Meeting, three days of racing culminating in the July Cup, probably the best 6furlong sprint run in Europe each season.
Day Two of the July Meeting
Wednesday 12 July 2000
'THE FLATMAN'
2.05 I don't believe Samsaam did much wrong at Ascot last time. In a race which appears weaker on paper than that event, and taking into account that he will revel in the underfoot conditions (likely to remain on the soft side of good) he would be a strong fancy to pick up the winning thread.
235 Bram Stoker the form pick but may not appreciate the cut in the ground. With Sir Mark Prescott's stable in very good nick I think Bravado can make the step up to Pattern Company a successful one.
310 Moon Solitaire should be given a chance to atone for his latest poor effort - his form was well up to winning this before that effort.
340 Embraced also disappointed many last time in the Oaks trial at York (had produced a sparkling turn of foot on return at Ascot over this distance) and may take some stopping now back over this trip. However, Danceabout who I was keen on for the Jersey Stakes ran respectably there and I'm not yet willing to desert her with her potential for significant improvement.
415 Experience counts in these events in my view and on that basis Dominus who has already shown a respectable level of form will set a difficult standard for the newcomers to overturn.
445 Some larger stables represented in this seller, which is a little unusual. I have no firm views but Game Magic would be the tentative selection.
520 Not a great race. See no reason to oppose the lightly weighted and in form Fait Le Jojo.
'THE 4 LONG POLE'
2.05 Bahrain Trophy (Class A) (Listed Race) 9runners 1m 6f 175yds Penalty £14355.00 3yo only
The 4Long Pole ~ Nine contest the opener on the card which in view of the conditions will be even more of a stamina test. Of these; Tantalus, Samsaam, Cephalonia, Andromedes, and Shuwaib appeal most as likely winners. Arguably Tantalus has the best form, a 7lengths 4th to Roscious in the Predominate Stakes (One of the Derby trials) at Goodwood over 10 furlongs, reads well in this company.
He hails from a family with plenty of stamina in it, looks like he will go close, however Samsaam is proven on the ground, and at the trip, and doesn't appear likely to be found wanting. He has to be the choice in the conditions. Cephalonia, and Andromedes, are in form and on better ground, would be worthy of greater consideration; I am however not convinced judging by previous effort that they will be effective on the surface. . The unexposed Shuwaib, winner of his only start, is bred to relish these conditions, and if I was going to oppose Samsaan, I think I'd entrust him with my pennies
No 1 CHOICE ~ Samsaan [R*ecommended],
e/W Alt.. ~ Shuwaib
2.35 TNT July Stakes (Class A) (Group 3) 7runners 6f Penalty £20300.00 2yo only colts and geldings
The 4Long Pole ~ Not sure what to make of the turnout for this race. Punters do not only have to evaluate French Form in the guise of Godolphin's Noverre, but also whether these horses will act on the surface. The only horse you would be certain to go on it is Media Mogul, a winner already twice this season. However I'm not convinced that his form is good enough.
French raider Noverre comes here on the back on two easy successes, but in all probability he needs the ground to dry out to be seen to maximum advantage. Bram Stoker ran well behind CD Europe at Royal Ascot, but the petrol gauge emptied in the last 1/2 furlong, and you'd wonder whether he wont struggled to last home here. Marine has won his last two race, and is clearly is improving with his racing, however this is a step up in grade. I'd stay loyal (I've selected him in both starts so far) with Bravado. He won both races with relative ease, and has the advantage on having won on Southwell's Fibresand and good to firm, You'd think he was able to adapt to these conditions.
No 1 CHOICE ~ Bravado
e/W Alt.. ~ Violata
3.10 Bonusprint Stakes (Showcase Handicap) (Class B) 13 runners 1m 2f Penalty £26000.00 3yo only
The 4Long Pole ~ Forbearing, Vintage Premium, Air Defence, Blue Gold, Cornelius, and Atlantic Rhapsody, are likely to head the market in this competitive 10 furlong handicap. The weights are headed by the improving Forbearing, winner of his last three starts at Epsom, Salisbury, and Goodwood, all achieved in the last month. Such is the level of his improvement that he meets Father Juninho on 15lb worse terms today for the win at Epsom on 9 June.
If you use Father Juninho as a formline, you'd imagine that there wouldn't be much between these two; Vintage Premium and Zibeline. Father Juninho having divided them when they met 25 days ago, yet he meets that pair on 4lb better terms for that effort, as a result of Vintage Premium and Zibeline having won their last efforts. You should be able to secure an eachway price about Father Juninho, and that would be what I'd do, however it's a long while since he won a race (September 1999) and it may be the case that the improver takes his scalp again. Stick with Forbearing
No 1 CHOICE ~ Forbearing
e/W Alt.. ~Father Juninho
3.40 Sportingodds.com Falmouth Stakes (Class A) (Group 2) 10runners 1m Penalty £34800.00 3yo plus fillies
The 4Long Pole ~ Embraced, Iftiraas, Golden Silca, Croeso Cariad, Alshakr, and Danceabout, are likely to head the market of what will almost certainly turn into a tactical affair, as there are no pacemakers in the line-up, therefore no guaranteed early pace. Golden Silca makes plenty of appeal as she has regularly acquitted herself well at the top level this season; respectable placing behind Kalanisi, and Aljabr read well in the context of this race. She's proven at this grade and sets the standard.
Of the others, Alshakr, who got the better of Iftiraas when finishing third and fifth in a muddling French 1,000 guinea, should be thereabout if she able to truly perform at this level. That same comment applies to Embraced who looked such a promising filly when winning under similar conditions at Ascot in May, but was a very disappointing 6th in the Musidora Stakes at York. She does have something to prove on the book, but I do believe in the adage 'forgive a horse one bad run'. If you do that, she must have a decent chance
No 1 CHOICE ~ Embraced
e/W Alt.. ~ Alshakr
4.15 E.B.F. Swaythling Memorial Novice Stakes (Class D) 10runners 6f Penalty £6012.50 2yo only
The 4Long Pole ~ Ten horses line up for race five. Seven of the field are making their debut so finding the winner could be easy. The 'form' horse is Dominus, who has finished 2nd on both his starts, the most recent when 3/4L, behind Shoeshine Boy in a Class B even at Ascot.
He'll be hard to beat, and only the debutantes Spy Master, [the first foal of Obsessive herself a useful juvenile 6f winner] Putra Pekan [half-brother to three juvenile winners, including smart 6f winner Sapphire Ring (later a Grade 3 winner in US), and Stylish Fella [half-brother to a 7f juvenile winner] who make any sort of appeal. Experience should count here
No 1 CHOICE ~ Dominus
e/W Alt.. ~ Red Master
4.45 Mondi Packaging Selling Stakes (Class E) 14runners 7f Penalty £5096.00 2yo only (The winner will be put up for auction after the race)
The 4Long Pole ~ One of the eccentricities of this meeting, apart from the location, must be this race, which must be one of the few races of that nature run at a prestigious meeting in this country. The market, as it is, suggests that Joint Instruction, Game Magic, Orchard Raider, Forever My Lord, Homelife, Billie H, and Skittles are the likeliest to take the prize.
Joint Instruction, one of only two winners in the field is likely to go off favourite after good efforts in similar event. He is exposed though, and is likely to be overturned here by a horse dropping to this grade for the first time. There are several that meet the criteria but the two that stand out are Game Magic, and Forever My Lord, and it's the latter who finished 8L 7th to Blue Goddess in a race which is working out really well, that gets the call
No 1 CHOICE ~ Forever My Lord
e/W Alt.. ~The Chocolatier
5.20 Reg Day Memorial Handicap (Class C) 7runners 2m 24yds Penalty £7046.00 3yo plus
The 4Long Pole ~ Fait Le Jojo, Fiori, The Woodstock Lady, Weet For Me, Montecristo, Turnpole, and Royal Castle contest the last on the card. Fait Le Jojo has been progressing nicely on fast ground and has to be respected, but today's slower going may well inhibit him. That won't apply in Fiori's case, who should relish conditions, and must have a good chance of reversing recent form with Weet For Me, a winner himself last time out. I'd go with The Woodstock Lady who steps up in trip here, but who comes from a stout female line and ran her best race of the season over 1 1/2 miles at Haydock last time out, travelling sweetly for a long way and pulling clear of the rest, only succumbing to the winner Ribblesdown in the final quarter. I hope she can set us up for the big one tomorrow.
No 1 CHOICE ~ The Woodstock Lady [R*ecommended],
e/W Alt.. ~

Day Three of the July Meeting
Thursday 13 July 2000
'THE FLATMAN'
2.05 Bonnard's chances have to be respected coming from the powerful A O' Brien yard but in general his horses have not been doing perhaps as well as he might have expected in their appearances across this side of the water. As this one only just got home on his debut I think he can be opposed - try Earl Grey who ran with credit in the Coventry at Ascot and this stiff 7F looks right up his street. Expect another good show from the likeable and consistent Stregone.
235 Sir Ferbet up just 5lbs for his latest winning effort will surely continue to go the right way in the coming weeks. He can put up a bold show. I like the look of Resounding who in retrospect probably had an impossible task on his first appearance this season but ran with a good deal of promise. In a race where not too many others can be seriously fancied, I feel very confident about this one. He might just be a fair price too.
305. The feature race. Lend a Hand slightly disappointed me last time and I'm not prepared to give him another chance here. Any further softening of the ground would help the ideally drawn Lincoln Dancer while Bertolini always seems to run with credit in such contests. But I give the nod to Agnes World after his bold show at Ascot when not well drawn to bring home the Sushi for his Japanese connections.
340 Wide open as expected. Tillerman, Nice One Clare, Strahan and Tayseer are all horses to which close consideration must be given. I am going to plump for Second Wind who appears to be in good form to repeat his recent Newmarket win (a race where many of those behind have been running well since) so the form looks solid. He could deliver the goods at a nice price - here's hoping.
410 Largely unraced field - top stables represented. Difficult call. Perhaps, a little on the once raced Karajan, who can draw on race fitness and experience might provide the solution. However, it is likely that the market will provide the best guide to this contest.
445. My Arundel spies tell me Khulan is good enough to deliver the goods at the first time of asking based on some splendid homework. Not easy to be confident though with a largely unraced field against her.
THE 4LONG POLE'
Newmarket
Thursday 13 July 2000
2.05 Weatherbys Superlative Stakes (Class A) (Listed Race) £20000 added, 2yo only, 7f, Penalty £12818.00, 8 runners.
The 4 Long Pole ~ Eight horses line up for the opener on the cards, and in truth I would be prepared to whittle that down immediately to 4. Earl Grey, who the Flatman fancies; Bonnard, winner of his only start at Fairyhouse; Kings Ironbridge, a cosy winner over course and distance last time; and Vacamonte a half-brother to 3 winners including the smart Wemyss Bight, who makes his debut. All appear to be useful sorts in the making but Kings Ironbridge is the one I'd want to be on today.
No 1 CHOICE ~ Kings Ironbridge
e/W Alt.. ~ Earl Grey
2.35 Mondi Packaging Handicap (Class C) £10000 added, 3yo only, 1m, Penalty £7709.00, 16 runners.
The 4 Long Pole ~ Sir Ferbert, Red N Socks, Mossy Moor, East Cape, Tumbleweed Tor, Clever Girl and Resounding are likely to head the market for this trappy handicap. None of them immediately grab my attention. I can see why Sir Ferbet will have his supporters after his easy win last time, and he surely must go well. Kingsdon ran well in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot but may be hindered by his weight. The same may apply with Red N Socks who finished two places in front of him that day. These may struggle though to cope with Mossy Moor, and Resounding. Mossy Moor was enterprising ridden to win at Kempton off of top weight, where her rider may use of her noticeable change of pace. Resounding was well supported to win on her seasonal debut but didn't have the run of the race and finished an eye-catching third. I think both of these will be hard to beat today, but I marginally prefer Resounding
No 1 CHOICE ~ Resounding
e/W Alt.. ~ Mossy Moor
3.05 July Cup (Showcase Race) (Class A) (Group 1) £165000 added, 3yo plus, 6f, Penalty £95700.00, 11 runners.
THE RUNNERS
[1] Agnes World (USA) 5 Year-old trained by Hideyuki Mori in Japan ~ Japanese sprinter who has an impressive record on his European ventures. Ran a great race from a bad draw in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, an don his previous sortie, He won the Prix de l'Abbaye last year. One of the few group horses in the field, he clearly will take a lot of catching; the only concern would be that his best form is at five furlongs.
[2] Bertolini (USA) 4 Year-old trained by Saeed bin Suroor ~ Proven in this grade and at least we know that he is capable of a bold showing. It does worry me though that he hasn't won since April 1999, and is likely to find one or two too good despite his ability.
[3] Lend A Hand 5 Year-old trained by Saeed bin Suroor ~ very impressive on his debut at York on his reappearance but was disappointing at Royal Ascot in the Cork & Orrery. Proven at the trip, and must be considered
[4] Munjiz (IRE) 4 Year-old trained by B Hills ~ Munjiz is a course and distance so at least we know he'll appreciate the complexities of the track......... unfortunately that's as positive as I can be.
[5] Pipalong (IRE) 4 Year-old trained by T Easterby ~ The only filly in the race. She is similar to Lend a Hand, having won three of her four starts before running a stinker at Royal Ascot. She has a bit to find with some of her rivals on previous form, however she is a tough mare who won't go down without a fight
[6] Lincoln Dancer (IRE) 3 Year-old trained by M Jarvis ~ Lincoln Dancer's trainer was not convinced that this horse stayed in the 2000 Guineas, and dropped him back to six furlongs at Haydock last time. It worked the oracle as he strode to an easy victory in a Listed handicap. I'm not sure how he'll cope with steeping back up in Grade, but should go creditably
[7] Monashee Mountain (USA) 3 Year-old trained by A O'Brien in Ireland ~ Earlier in the season most pundits held out Classic aspirations for this horse, but after a promising start, his season has fallen away a bit. He reverts to sprinting here and could be interesting, but he does have something to find to trouble the principles
[8] Primo Valentino (IRE) 3 Year-old trained by P Harris ~ Led the field a merry dance for 6 furlongs of the 2000 Guineas, but patently failed to stay that trip. He is interesting on his best form of last term, if you forgive him a poor effort in Germany last time.
[9] Rossini (USA) 3 Year-old trained by A O'Brien in Ireland ~ Rossini was held in high regard by the current master of Ballydoyle last term, but I truly wonder whether he still does after this horses poor efforts this term. If the trainers right he could go close, I just don't have anything to go on
[10] Trinculo (IRE) 3 Year-old trained by N Littmoden ~ Probably worth entering him for a sub standard looking race however Trinculo looks out of his depth
[11] Winning Venture 3 Year-old trained by S Woods ~ Winning Venture has been campaigned in the top flight but isn't up to it and like Trinculo appears to have no chance
The 4 Long Pole ~
This wouldn't be the best July Cup ever run as only a few have proved themselves as Group 1 sprinters. The one guarantee of the race is that there will be early pace. I would have thought that Agnes World, Lend a Hand, and Primo Valentino will try to blaze a trail, with the likes of Lincoln Dancer, Bertolini, and Monashee Mountain waiting to pounce late. Agnes World is the horse the race centres on for me. He is very fast indeed and there are many pundits who will dismiss him over this course because of his pace. I think this is an error. He may be better at five furlongs, but he has genuine Group 1 winning form to his name, and it wouldn't surprise me if most of these were burned off by them. Only Lend a Hand of his York form and Monashee Mountain on last season's form stand in his way. I'd gamble that this horse, who did win in Japan over a mile early in his career, may be good enough to hang on for a famous victory
No 1 CHOICE ~ Agnes World
e/W Alt.. ~Monashee Mountain
3.40 Ladbroke Bunbury Cup (Handicap) (Class B) £40000 added, 3yo plus, 7f, Penalty £26000.00, 20 runners.
The 4 Long Pole ~ Tillerman, Strahan, Nice One Clare, Persiano, Tayseer, Juno Marlowe, Salty Jack, Kinan, Peartree House, Second Wind, A Touch Of Frost, Choto Mate, Exeat, and Gift Of Gold, all can be given squeaks in what is likely to be a fiercely competitive dash up this straight course. Tillerman, Strahan and Persiano all ran well in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last time and must go well here. This time I think Pat Eddery has been given a kinder draw and he may be able to use's Tillerman's pace to win the race rather than get into it. Remember, this horse is almost certainly Group class, expect him to be finishing fast and late.
No 1 CHOICE ~ Tillerman [R*ecommended],
e/W Alt.. ~ Salty Jack
4.10 Bedford Lodge Hotel Maiden Stakes (Class D) £8000 added, 3yo only, 1m 2f, Penalty £5655.00, 9 runners.
The 4 Long Pole ~ Six debutantes and three lightly-raced sorts make up the field for the fifth race on the card. Of these, the debutante Cloud Hopping, Royal Tryst, Inaaq and Rose Adagio appeal most. I marginally prefer Inaaq on breeding
No 1 CHOICE ~ Inaaq
e/W Alt.. ~ Rose Adagio
4.45 Princess Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Class D) £8000 added, 2yo only fillies, 6f, Penalty £5785.00, 9 runners.
The 4 Long Pole ~ The final race of the meeting is similar in its makeup to the previous event. Khulan, a half-sister to Irish 1000 Guineas winner Mehthaaf Ecstatic, a good second on her debut, Seven Sing, a half-sister to top-class miler Distant View and Sauce Tartar who hails from family of Warning and Rainbow Quest appeal this time. Khulan may in time be very good, but I'll take a chance with Ecstatic
No 1 CHOICE ~Ecstatic
Alt.. ~Khulan
