Nov/Dec 2002
Beamsley Hospital (near Skipton)

We arrived on the Friday and Left on the Monday but it was our home and we loved it. Living in a building that was originally built for sick nuns to recouperate in (during the 14th Century) isn't the sort of thing one does everyday, but I recommend it!

Me, Jason, Caroline, Joe and Andrew lived like kings and queens. We ate heartily and drank wine by the gallon. Open fires, spooky surroundings and very nice people made for a truly memorable experience. Highlights? Well... we had our own fully equipped chapel complete with pews and a pulpit that we preached our own special verse from! Low point? Me falling over, but let's not go there, enjoy the pictures instead...

If you fancy staying in this building or any of the others available, visit the website of The Landmark Trust

1. One cannot fail to be impressed by the site of this buidling. Sadly we arrived when it was pitch black!

2. One of the smallest windows, not your usual double glazing is it?

3. Another window, with some odd looking types peering in from outside.

4. We also had our own bell! This was originally used to summon the nuns to service.

5. And the nuns came a-running! Naughty nuns, praying for their evil sins.

6. Sisters Dementia and Chlamydia - "Doin' it for themselves" as the song goes.

7. Sister Tagliatelle spotted a typographical error in the good book. A smug sinner looks on.

8.The sinner sees the light.

9.Filthy heathens take over the pulpit and make merry before the good lord.

10. A rather strange but very old tapestry above the fireplace, what is going on?

11. A rather strange modern day re-enactment of the said tapestry, still not sure what's going on!

12. How rustic, how festive! Oranges and Limes that we covered in cloves - lovely aroma.

13. All dressed up and nowhere to go! A gorgeous meal with gorgeous people in a gorgeous place.

14. Ahhhhh...
Joe and Andrew

15. A meal made for 15, to be eaten by five. The red ribbons weren't edible, it was World AIDS Day.

16. Caroline in Caroline Street!
We had a day out in Saltaire (near Bradford)

17. Joe, doing his bit with the fire. The log book was full of smokey tales, we did fine - very cosy.

18. Just outside our front door, on the slippy path that was my downfall - ouch!

19.Peek-a-boo!
Joe and Andrew being very grown up.

20. Tree Huggers!
You know what a nature lover I am.

21. Bye bye Beamsley...
High kicking our way home!
