19. Emma Lake

Emma Laket was my great-great grandmother, and mother of Emma Louisa Frost.

She was born in Tottenham, Middlesex, England in c.1836-7. I haven't been able to find a birth certificate for her.

According to their marriage certificate, John Frost and Emma Lake were married on 17 December 1865 at the Parish Church in the Parish of West Hackney in the County of Middlesex. It just says they were of "full age", and they were resident in West Hackney [not especially helpful!]. Her father was Joshua Lake, Bricklayer. The witnesses to the marriage were James Frost and Sarah Lake.

Their daughter, Emma Sarah Louisa Frost, was born in Islington, in the Sub-district of Islington East in the County of Middlesex, on 28 October 1866, at 7 Mildmay Street.

The young family are in the 1861 census. They were living at 17 Samuel Street. James George Milton was the head of the household, occupation Boot Closer, born Middlesex in what looks like Tower Ward. Rebecca his wife was 24[?}, born in London Mall [or Wall?]. They had an infant son James George, born in St George East.

This family was recorded in the 1881 census. They were living at 20 Usher Road, Bow, London, Middlesex. She was not working at the time.
