I wanted to be able to carry a reasonable amount of fresh water.
I had most of the components, so I thought I'd re-work the water
system.
The silver upright tank is a Teal 12V hot water heater, normally
the tip-up sink is mounted to it. |
 |
I had to cut a large hole in the door to fit the sink bowl.
Alas it was a case of make a big hole, then try and make it tidy
with not too many sharp edges.
I managed to get the water pipe from the hot-water through the
standard Isuzu trunking into the door.
A washer pump is used to pump the hot water, micro-switched from
the tap. |
 |
Glass fibre was chosen the seal up the edges, and give a wipe
down, and waterproof finish. I laid down some card and tape to
give a shape to work to. |
 |
A layer of mat, a layer of tissue and plenty of resin gives the
recess some shape. |
 |
Tidy it all up with a quick rub-down and a lick of paint.
Mount the bowl on its hinge
Finish it all off with a couple of soap bottles, one for the
dishes, the other for my sticky kids. |
 |
Fold it all up and the door closes - much to my relief Not a
bad use for otherwise wasted space. |
 |
To feed the cold tap, I bent up a tubular frame to take a
20litre NATO water can. |
 |
I've reworked the lid, so a submersible pump fits inside the
can. A quick release connector for the wiring, and airline
connectors allow the can to be removed easily for re-filling.
One unforeseen thing, I can undo the PCL connector, and operate
the cold tap, and the little pump will spray water 30'.
Maybe a shower will be next !! |
