Roof rack

My roof rack was found on eBay

The previous owner claimed it was genuine Isuzu, and that seems to be true.

Its a bit noisy, and affects performance, but makes the vehicle more distinctive and versatile.
All BigHorns have captive M6 nuts under the trim for roof-racks and bars.

With a little bit of trimming, the original trim strips can be replaced.

I've modified the front of the rack, so it doesn't hang over the windscreen.

I was hoping this might be more aerodynamic and therefore quieter and more economical.

I want to add some welded on brackets anyway for another project.

All the plastic coating has been stripped off. It was harbouring rust, as was the mesh.

I didn't have mesh to hand, but I did have lots of chequerplate, to make the rack floor.

I didn't want the front 1/4 covered, as I plan to fit a sunroof in the future.

Here is the rack painted. The additional brackets can be seen on the left - watch this space.

The tape is a rubber tape so that the floor doesn't rattle and resonate

The floor fitted, with cut-outs for the tie-down points.
Here it is fitted, a fairly lousy picture, but we all have off days ;-)

Position of the sunroof is mocked up, this has yet to be fitted
