Rear
Suspension
I'm going for semi-triangulated 4-link. It will allow me to re-use the
trailing mounts on the chassis, an a-frame wasn't possible due to the
mid-mounted engine, I'm hoping to get a balanced suspension - front <-> rear,
but because of the limited places I could place the mounts, the geometry isn't
as good as the front.
It will be interesting to see how a vehicle with lots of front travel and
decent rear travel, compares to our traditional Land Rovers with very limited
front travel.

First fine yourself some raw materials. On the left a Land
Rover trailing arm.
On the right some 48mm OD seamless tube, with 7mm wall thickness. |
 |
Bend up the fat pipe to suit the mounting points, and then
use a Land Rover trailing arm and some 5mm plate to reinforce the bend. |
 |
Plenty of articulation possible with no springs |
 |
Design of the inner links is far from ideal, but with a sump
and oil pump and filters in the way - what can you do ? I suspect retained
rear springs will alleviate the need for any retaining straps, the prop
angles are a bit easier on the back. |
