Seven Sisters 2006

Petal and MogLite arrive at Seven Sisters all ready for MogLite's first off-road outing.

So far its only been on/off the truck and driven about 300m.

Baptism of fire !!

Despite this being my first play on the rocks, I was still able to goad my co-driver into tea-pot impressions.
Going down was fairly straightforward and fun.
The way out was a bit precarious. Just one rock holding up the front wheel.

The crew wisely insisted a winch rope be put on.

Time to turn it around and go back up.
Its a whole lot easier to go down I can tell you.

Especially with the front locker not yet hooked up

Hmm big rocks

As my co-driver had slipped and twisted his knee by this point, a tug on Petals winch was the right thing to do.

Something is obviously not right

So we drag it out

Carnage shots are below

With repairs completed by team WBBSC in a Welsh field :-) We live to fight another day.

Thanks chaps.

Bimble around the site to try (and fail) to find our bearings and just get some miles on it.
Its not a muddy site per-se, but the mudguards do a good job of keeping the body/cab clean.
Its not that big - honest
Playing on one of the punch challenge sections
and again
Seeing what the climbing is like
Straighten up for another attempt.
Climbs real well, especially considering no front locker

Tyres look real skinny here.

I just like this shot
Reversing up the waterfall section.
I couldn't get onto the big pipe.

The tyres were way too stiff being ex-Zil even with only 15psi.

We made it to the close of play on Sunday which I was ecstatic about. Not without issues, but they were solved or on the to-do list.

and the carnage

The first problem on Saturday was the big hub nut fell out !!!

Luckily Jez not only spotted the problem, but knew where the bolt was.

It wasn't loose, but the internal roll-pins were not engaged.

Some improvised field repairs and we are ready to go again.

One of my early welds gave way in the rocks.
Alas this put the axle out of alignment enough to allow the prop to carve a hole in the sump.

Quicksteel seems to have done a decent repair :-)

With the axle blocked up we attach Paul's TVR powered Camel 110 to act as power and Mike's Tomcat to act as brakes.
The view from the cockpit. The mesh takes some getting used to, but with the sound effects of the V8 - who cares
Madness in a Welsh field gets it all sorted out.

A great weekend - thanks to everyone at the Shire Land Rover Club for making it happen

Thanks to the WBBSC crew and the LR4x4 lot for keeping MogLite in one piece.
