A quiet farming community is the victim of a vicious un-provoked attack by the “flower of Bretonnian Chivalry”!
Terrain objectives:
Village well – destruction will raze the tile.
The Brettonian force approached the village over the open land to the north of the village. Unaware of the Brettonians’ approach, the Halfling militia gathered in the village houses and around the well.

On being spotted the Brettonian cavalry was enveloped in darkness, obscuring the cannon from the view of the defending villagers. Under cover of darkness the Brettonian commander, a wizard, razed the northern house, killing the occupants.
The Halfling bowmen from the southern house advanced to the wall to the east of the now ruined house. The Halfling skirmishers advanced to the woods to the west in order to gain sight of the cannon and their crew. Having killed a number of the artillerymen, the Brettonian commander created a magical bog over the skirmishers, thus temporarily removing them from the battle.
The cavalry advanced to the west of the ruined house to be met by the spear-armed militia, accompanied by the Halfling contingent commander and standard-bearer. Upon noticing the Halfling’s dread banner, the Brettonian commander cast leg breaking on the standard-bearer, thus preventing the Halfling commander and standard bearer participating in the Halfling charge against the cavalry. On receiving the Halfling charge the Brettonian commander issued a challenge to the Halfling leader. Accepting the challenge, the Halfling unit leader quickly gained the upper hand against his foe. The cavalry was pushed back but the Brettonians regained their composure, forcing a stalemate.
The Halfling bowmen manoeuvred into a position from which they proceeded to whittle down the artillery crew suffering two casualties to cannon fire. Having lost the rest of the unit, the remaining artilleryman fled. Meanwhile the Halfling commander and standard bearer joined their kinsmen in the confrontation with the cavalry, the commander challenging and defeating the cavalry unit commander. The resulting pushback prompted the cavalry to rout from the field.
The rout of the Brettonians from the field prompted a celebration that saw the destruction of the Brettonian cannon!

10 Halfling militia killed in building collapse
2 Halfling militia killed by Cannon
5 Halfling militia killed by Heavy Cavalry
