Dope Wars
(Series
5/5mx)
A beta version of a Dope Wars clone developed for the Series 5mx has been
given to me for distribution from the Psionology site. As it stands, the
game is 95% finished and already very playable and addictive, with a high
score table giving the player something to aim for. Unfortunately the author
has no time to finish the game and as such, there are no plans for him to
update the program. However, the OPL source code is available in the zipped
file for anyone wishing to add menus or generally polish up the application.
Download Dope Wars
The object of the game is simple - buy drugs by clicking on the required
one and then move to a new suburb to sell at a profit. Pay off the original
loan, and keep your spare money safe and earning interest. The game is over
after 30 days have passed!

Full installation and gameplay instructions are included in the zipped
file. Any problems, email
me.

| FreeMem v1.10 (Series
5/Revo/Series 7)
A freeware application written by
Pascal Nicolas, who claims that the memory taken by the system seems to increase
with time as programs and documents are opened and closed. Pascal argues
that there is no memory leaks but that the EPOC32 operating system caches
procedures and does not deallocate all the memory when an application is
closed, in case it is opened again soon. It saves time and reduces the
fragmentation. However the memory gets fragmented with time and it reduces
performances (large memory segments are spread over serveral cells). FreeMem
is used to defragment the memory and reclaim all the unused segments.

| NoMore v1.05
(Series5/Revo/Series 7)
Authored by Henry Hirst,
NoMore is a freeware utility that gives the Series 5 and Revo user
greater control over which programs are displayed on the Extras bar. If you
are cluttered, or want to remove infrequently used programs, but still want
them to work as if they were visible on the Extras bar, NoMore is for you.
Ideal for those of us who use large capacity Compact Flash disks! Features
include:
-
Hides/restores programs installed on the C:\ and D:\ drives. The ROM based
programs (Spell,Program,Comms,Record and Bombs) are ignored as they are immune
to the dynamic way NoMore operates.
-
NoMore optionally creates a link to the hidden program, so you can still
access it from any folder without having to navigate to the relevant
\System\Apps\ folder
-
NoMore's Extras bar icon displays the number of hidden programs

| Moon (Series
5)
Written by Peter Csutora, Moon is a small and handy freeware application
that displays the current phase of the Moon. It also tells you when is the
next event coming and what is it, as well as the date of the next New Moon.
It doesn't use much memory, so you can leave it running all the time. If
you want, it pops up whenever you switch on the machine. To hide it again
just click elsewhere on the background, click on an application button or
press "h". You can specify where you want it on the screen, and also if you
want to have a blank background or
not.
e: < 1 minute at 33, 600 bps
To keep it fast and small Moon doesn't calculate the age of the moon.
Instead, it comes with a small database file for each year. You can leave
this databases in the Moon folder, and delete the old one when a new year
is coming. If you click on the top button of the toolbar Moon will display
you the database of the whole year, so you can locate e.g. all Full Moons
easily.

| Homer (Series
5)
Written and kindly made available
for download by software author Glenn Webber, Homer is a kind of 'virtual
pet' based on the character immortalised by the American cartoon 'The Simpsons'.
While lounging about watching the television all day, Homer will need feeding,
drinking..... at regular intervals. Not for the faint hearted - Homer is
a fun application! He will make himself known to you verbally whatever you
are doing on your Series 5. The sound effects are great and the application
should be left running in the background for maximum effect. The sound can
be turned off to preserve battery life if so required. Try it and if you
like it, let me know.
Unzip the homer.zip file and you should be left with a folder entitled Homer.
Copy this folder (all files) to the system\apps folder on the 'C' drive of
the Series 5 and a shortcut will be added to the extras bar. Please note
that the current version of Homer will not install to a CF disk on
the 'D' drive. Unzip Homer.zip and copy all files to Psion
"C:\system\apps\homer"

| Your Round! (Series
5)
Another freeware application written
by Glenn Webber, Your Round! is a fun app that can help two people to decide
who buys the next beer! It is essentially a simple dice game that is played
in a bar by two players. Enter your names, throw the dice and let the Series
5 make that all important decision on who buys the next round!

| PsiTris (Series
5)
This is one of my favourite games.
PsiTris is an excellent freeware program based on the commercial game of
Tetris. It is in fact very similar to the classic tile game. Highly customisable,
the user can select his/her own choice of block style, background picture,
game style and controls. Other features include excellent graphics, sound
effects, a high score table and choice of initial level. The game is similar
to the original in the way that it speeds up the longer the level is played.
Game speed can be adjusted to suit the player. Currently at version 1.51,
PsiTris as it stands is suitable only for the Series 5. Series 5mx users
must download the speed patch and install it in
order to slow the game to a desired speed. For a review of PsiTris,

Psolly (Series
5)
Long boring meetings? They'll
think you're taking down every word, when actually you're happily engaged
with PSolly for the Psion Series 5! Authored by Jeff Goodman, PSolly is a
version of the classic Klondike solitaire game. It incorporates several advanced
features such as full undo, game selectable by number, pen and keyboard play,
and a host of customisable options. Quite an old game now, but
nevertheless free.
