Recent successes

In April 2008, Victoria Byron sang memorably at RLPO Hall in Liverpool as soloist in The Armed Man (Jenkins) and Sea Pictures (Elgar).

In May 2008, the Orphics sang at St Nicholas' Church Pierhead (Liverpool) as the guests of a visiting German Choir  Vokalensemble Mittelrein.

  Previous  news

(1) The 2007 trip to Broadheath last September was memorable; we visited Elgar’s Birthplace Museum and sang some Elgar there. In the evening we gave a concert in Powick Parish Church , nearby. A great day for the girls.

(2) The 2007 series of Christmas concerts went very well. We did two SATB with our lovely “Morphics”, one as part of a Carols with Brass involving Formby Choral Society and Formby Band; and a shared concert with Formby U3A Choir. The hard work  and dedication of the Orphics is amazing!

(3) In March 2007, The Orphics joined  Crosby Capriol Singers to perform Andrew Carter’s Benedicite for two choirs. The Orphics also sang three Mozart pieces, including Laudate Dominum with Vicky Aindow as soloist.

(4) On September 9th 2006, the Orphics travelled Worcestershire to sing in All Saints Church, Wilden and in St. Leonard's Church, Ribbesford. Wilden is where Ann grew up, and was married; the church was built by the father of Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, and its priceless windows are all by his uncle Edward Burne-Jones. The two churches are part of a North-West Worcs Heritage Trail opening up country churches to display their history and art treasures.

(5) The Orphic Singers have  performed a 2006 fund-raising concert for Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre - raising £365!  www.freshfieldsrescue.org.uk

(6) Vicky Aindow was the soloist for the Crosby Capriol Singers on May 13th 2006, when they presented The Faure Requiem and part of Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man.” (it was at St. Nicholas’ Church, Blundellsands).

(7)  North-west composer helped Orphics celebrate Liverpool's 'Year of the Sea' (2005)   Manchester-based composer David Jepson recently wrote a  2-part setting of The Leaving of Liverpool for us.  We premiered it at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on July 10th 2005 , with David present.  The service was a celebration of Liverpool ’s maritime history,  for "Sea Sunday".  The Leaving of Liverpool was particularly moving as we were also commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of V. J. Day.

We have several other concerts lined up for 2008.  Follow this link for details
