During your Science course, you will probably have learned that a chemical industry should be sited near to :- Location
  • the source of raw materials (if they occur in the same country)
  • a workforce, to produce labour for the industry
and, in order to transport the final product, near to :-
  • major roads
  • a rail network
  • a port
But when chemicals have to be transported in bulk, as liquids, gases, or powders, this is only the beginning of the story! Methods of transport must be safe for the delivery staff, the general public and the environment. And the chemicals must be delivered on time, and in perfect condition. So how is this done?
