Logistics Planning.

With so many crucial factors and regulations governing the transport of chemicals, the need for planning is very obvious. It is the job of the transport company's logistics planning team to ensure that the load can be collected, transported by a suitable route, and delivered on time and in good condition. Within the U.K., this may involve both road and rail transport. It the chemicals are to be imported or exported, the logistics team will also obtain timetables from ferries and cargo shipping companies.

route planner For road transport, computerised route planners are available to provide a full route timetable. You may already be familiar with Microsoft's "Autoroute Express". This type of software can provide route maps and a full listing of start time, times of arrival at towns and villages on route, and scheduled arrival time at the final destination. The software can plan for the quickest route, the most direct route, routes using only motorways and main roads - whatever best suits the particular load being transported.
