I started researching my family tree after attending an Irish genealogy course here in Newcastle - initially to trace my father's side of the family from Ireland. My father came to England in 1943 when he was 16 years old from Dublin. I have discovered a little information about his mother's family from a recent trip to Dublin but I have not yet extended this - distance proving difficult for research!! (Hopefully I will have a chance to put this information on this site before too long). However in the meantime I had caught the genealogy bug and launched on a search for my mother's family who all seem to have come from the southern counties of England ( and Wales!) The results of my research - together with the invaluable help of my uncle Desmond who is also conducting research into the family from his home base in Wales - have given me the chance to publish some of my maternal family tree on the Web and to provide some information on a number of the individuals - including some detail of their professions...see below
