I joined the CONFIDENTIAL following my internal transfer from the CONFIDENTIAL and was responsible for the initial setting up of the platform accommodation, sickbay and administration/documentation system prior to the load out and hook up. As Medic my primary function is the maintenance of the medical and social welfare of the crews and the training of first aid teams with a special emphasis on the catering personnel who are trained up to sick bay assistant standard. Since joining, I have been able to attend the R.E.H.I.S. course and pass the examination for management food/hygiene training, which helps in monitoring the health and hygiene practices and standards of the catering crews and more recently passed with a credit the BEBOH COSHH Assessors course.

As part of the ongoing health care programme I am responsible for interviewing new personnel, and carrying out base line medical and health screening of personnel where indicated. At regular intervals I conduct a further review medical on each crew member and when requested arrange dietary and health programmes.

My secondary duties on the installation encompass all aspects of administration ranging from personnel movements to maintaining the filing systems of the OIM's. I am responsible for co-ordinating day to day CONFIDENTIAL and also co-ordinate personnel movements with the AP rep and various project group supervisors. When required I assist the radio operator on both the switch board and aeronautical radio during period of communications maintenance.
I participate in various aspects of safety inspections out with the routine duties performed by the Medic. I conduct monthly first line maintenance checks on all portable fire fighting appliances, emergency shower units and chemical PPE. I am also responsible for running and organising safety induction's and personnel orientation tours around the platform for new crew members and visiting vendor representatives.
I have attended courses on COSHH assessments and am active with other members of the platform crew in conducting risk assessment and COSHH reviews.
In conclusion it is my responsibility to ensure the maintenance of all offshore legislative documentation ranging from employers liability insurance; hazardous chemical register details to monthly water inspection certificates. I report directly to the Installation Manager.

Duties:

I initially joined the company in the post of medic/admin clerk reporting directly to the OIM. After a period of nine months I was offered the opportunity to take an eight week Drilling Operations and Safety Course in USA and on completion of the training programme assumed the duties of the platform Safety and Training Supervisor. I undertook all aspects of routine offshore work as delegated to the medic as well as organising in house training programmes for new starts on the various drilling units I have worked on.

Joined the company as a team leader as part of the Occupational Health Team based at the multi national construction facility working primarily in an 80 bed Accident Emergency Unit. I was promoted after 10 months to night shift supervisor in charge of the 80 bed unit, and responsible for 2 wards, 3 satellite emergency stations and arranging Ambulance team cover during the night shifts.
