FadH Software - What MVS software should be like

PDSFLIST - Release Notes, Version 4.1      (Dated 08/10/99).

Version 4.1 of PDSFLIST is now available.

New features

Pre-allocation SAF check. When using the Generic Filtered List function, it is useful to stop any security violation messages on the allocation. To provide an ability to "pre check" the allocation a new variable called SAFCHECK is now used. The default is N. If set to Y and the SAF authorisation fails, the dataset will not be allocated. An entry will show in the display as "Not authorised".

Generic Filtered List (GFL) support has been improved to handle migrated datasets. On a GFL request, any datasets found to have been migrated will be shown in the list "Not recalled". However, if you explicitly request the dataset from the display, an allocation is attempted. Following a successful recall of the dataset, the entry will no longer show as "Not recalled".

Previous/Next DSN. This function is implemented using PF19 and PF20. This provides the ability to move through a multiple DSN display at the dataset level.

The SORT commands have been changed to cater for sorting both a single  dataset within the list and the complete member list (ie across all DSNs listed). The PF9 sort-by-date is retained to sort the full member list displayed. However, the sort subcommands (/SD /SN /SR) now default to just the dataset that the command was issued against. If you wish to sort the complete list, you must suffix the sort subcommand with ALL, eg /SDALL

Maintenance changes

The ESTAE has been improved to handle all OPEN failures and ensure proper clean-up of dataset allocations.

PFKEY changes

To provide PF19 and PF20 as the Previous/Next DSN facility, the ISPF/PDF key is now PF22.
